Google has not confirmed a new Fitbit called Edge. A report published October 4, 2026, says leaked retail materials use that name and describe a small-screen wearable with notifications and apps—features that would place it between a traditional fitness band and a smartwatch if the details prove accurate.
What is the reported Fitbit Edge?
9to5Google’s October 4, 2026 report says retail assets shared by Android Headlines identify a new Google wearable as “Fitbit Edge.” The assets reportedly describe a small display, notifications, apps, Bluetooth connectivity without Wi-Fi, support for Android and iOS phones, and up to seven days of battery life. Listed apps reportedly include Google Maps, media and music controls, and Find My Phone.
Those are leak-based claims, not confirmed specifications. The reviewed sources establish no Google announcement, official product page, release date or Edge price. The “space between” description is an interpretation of the reported screen, apps and tracker-style format—not a confirmed category or positioning from Google.
What the FCC filing can—and cannot—tell us
In September 2026, 9to5Google reported an FCC listing for a “Wireless Device,” model G8BL6, made by Goertek. The outlet described clues in the filing that suggest an e-label screen, Bluetooth LE, GNSS/GPS, a metal-frame antenna and Android Debug Bridge (ADB) use during testing. It inferred that the device might be a Google fitness tracker, possibly running Wear OS, while noting questions raised by the lack of Wi-Fi. Android Central reported similar clues and also treated the device’s identity as uncertain.

- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The filing does not certify a product named Fitbit Edge, prove that the device is running Wear OS, or establish what its GPS can do in everyday use. The connection between the FCC-listed model and the leaked retail name remains unconfirmed.

How it compares with confirmed Fitbit Air
Fitbit Air is a confirmed Google product, announced May 7, 2026. Unlike the screen reportedly described for Edge, Air is explicitly screenless and designed for all-day and overnight health monitoring. Google lists Air alongside Pixel Watch 5 and older Fitbit devices, including Charge 6, on its Google Store fitness tracker comparison page. That provides context for existing products; it does not verify Edge’s specifications.

What Fitbit Air tracks
Google says Air tracks 24/7 heart rate, heart rhythm monitoring with AFib alerts, blood oxygen saturation (SpO2), resting heart rate, heart-rate variability, sleep stages and sleep duration. Google cautions that these features are not intended for medical purposes; AFib alert availability varies, and heart-rate accuracy can be affected by physiology, device placement, movement and activity. Wearable readings are not a diagnosis.
Air battery and accessories
Google says five minutes of charging gives Fitbit Air a full day of power. The company’s “up to seven days” figure is an approximate manufacturer estimate based on testing in 2025—not a measured Edge result. Air’s listed band options are Performance Loop, Active Band and Elevated Modern Band. Google says some bands are sold separately, with prices starting at $34.99, and color availability varies by country. Nothing in the reviewed sources establishes that Air bands fit Edge.

What remains unknown about Edge
Until Google publishes product information, key buying questions remain unanswered. The leak and FCC clues do not establish:
- Edge’s price, release date or availability by country.
- Its final operating system, exact app selection or how notifications work.
- Whether GNSS/GPS is present in Edge, or whether any location features work without a phone.
- Its health and fitness sensors, water resistance, charging method or tested battery life.
- Its minimum phone software versions or whether it requires a specific Google app or account.
- Whether its bands or charger are compatible with Fitbit Air accessories.
There is also no independent hands-on test of Edge in the reviewed reporting. For an existing, confirmed Fitbit option, Google’s comparison page includes Charge 6; check the current listing for its details and availability.
