The Fujitsu PRIMERGY TX2540 M1 is a dual-socket Xeon tower server, also documented in rack configurations. Before buying or upgrading one, verify the exact CPU count, chassis type, memory population and storage controller: those determine which parts and capabilities apply to the individual machine.

What the TX2540 M1 is

Fujitsu’s PRIMERGY TX2540 M1 data sheet identifies a D3099-B mainboard with an Intel C602 chipset. It is a dual-socket Intel Xeon server, and the model documentation covers tower and rack configurations. Fujitsu lists processors from the Intel Xeon E5-2400 v2 family, including configurations with models up to ten cores; that does not mean every unit has two processors or any particular CPU installed.

The data sheet also lists up to six PCIe slots, two onboard 1 GbE ports, VGA, serial and USB 2.0 connections, and an iRMC S4 management controller. Treat these as model-family specifications, not a complete inventory of a used server: configuration and included components can differ by unit.

What RAM does a Fujitsu TX2540 M1 use?

The TX2540 M1 uses DDR3 registered ECC memory. Fujitsu lists 12 DIMM slots and 4 GB, 8 GB and 16 GB module options. The stated standard capacity range reaches 192 GB; the data sheet separately notes that 768 GB was possible on project release, which is not the ordinary standard configuration.

OFFTEK 8GB Replacement Memory RAM Upgrade for Fujitsu-Siemens Primergy TX2540 M1 (DDR3-12800 - Reg) Server Memory/Workstation Memory
  • Boost Your System’s Performance: Increase available memory for smoother multitasking, improved responsiveness and better performance when running memory-intensive applications.
  • Matched Specifically to Your Machine: OFFTEK selects the correct memory configuration for the computer shown in this listing, removing the uncertainty from choosing a compatible upgrade.
  • We Do the Technical Checking for You: There is no need to compare memory speeds, voltages, form factors or other technical details, as the upgrade has been matched to the machine’s supported requirements.
  • Extend the Life of Your Computer: Increasing the available memory can help your existing machine remain productive for longer, offering a cost-effective alternative to replacing the complete system.
  • Quick and Straightforward Upgrade: Memory is normally simple to install and requires no software installation; shut down and disconnect the machine before fitting and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

Memory population matters as much as the broad memory type. Fujitsu’s performance-mode note requires identical modules in all channels of each bank per CPU. A server’s installed CPU count and existing DIMMs therefore affect a compatible expansion plan. Start with the phrase “DDR3 registered ECC memory for Fujitsu PRIMERGY TX2540 M1,” then confirm capacity, rank, low-voltage specification, channel population and CPU configuration against the official documentation and the actual machine. The data sheet’s listed module capacities do not guarantee that any third-party listing will work.

Which drives fit the TX2540 M1?

First identify the drive-bay format. Fujitsu documents both 3.5-inch LFF and 2.5-inch SFF chassis variants. A drive that matches one format will not physically fit the other without the appropriate bay hardware. The model name alone does not establish which chassis a seller is offering.

Next identify the fitted storage controller and drive interface. The onboard SATA controller supports RAID 0, 1 and 10. Fujitsu also lists optional RAID controllers with broader RAID support, but the actual capabilities depend on the controller installed in that unit. Do not assume a generic SATA or SAS drive will work in every configuration; check the chassis, interface, backplane and controller before ordering drives or planning an array.

What to check before buying or upgrading

Used TX2540 M1 listings can describe different configurations under the same model name. Ask for the exact unit’s inventory or clear photographs where the listing does not specify it.

  • Quick and Straightforward Upgrade: Memory is normally simple to install and requires no software installation; shut down and disconnect the machine before fitting and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Processors: confirm whether one or two CPUs are installed and record each exact model.
  • Chassis and bays: establish whether it is the LFF 3.5-inch or SFF 2.5-inch variant and how many usable bays and caddies are included.
  • Memory: note DIMM type, capacity, rank and populated channels, along with the installed CPU configuration.
  • Storage controller: distinguish onboard SATA from an optional RAID controller and verify the supported drive interface and RAID modes for that controller.
  • Other included parts: check whether redundant power supplies, fans and the expected management configuration are present.

These checks are more reliable than assuming that a listing’s headline model number describes every component or upgrade option.

Where to find the manual, drivers and compatibility records

Fujitsu’s support portal lists an English TX2540 M1 operating manual, identified as version 2017/1 and dated 23 April 2020, as well as upgrade and maintenance documentation. Fujitsu’s model-specific driver and adapter listings show version 1062 dated 30 June 2023. A listing does not establish that every download remains available today, or that the server receives current security support; confirm availability and support status with Fujitsu before relying on them.

Red Hat’s hardware catalog records historical certification entries for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 and 7 and several Red Hat OpenStack or virtualization releases. These records are evidence of past certification, not a claim of current certification or support for a current operating-system release.
