The Xiaomi 17 Ultra’s camera system centres on a 50MP, 1-inch main sensor with Xiaomi’s LOFIC HDR feature and a 200MP telephoto camera with a stated 75–100mm mechanical optical zoom range. Xiaomi also advertises optical-quality zoom up to 400mm equivalent, but that extended reach is a separate claim—not a 75–400mm native mechanical zoom lens.
What is LOFIC on the Xiaomi 17 Ultra?
LOFIC HDR is Xiaomi’s named highlight-control feature for the phone’s main camera. Xiaomi identifies that camera as a 50MP Light Fusion 1050L sensor with a 1-inch sensor size, 23mm equivalent focal length, f/1.67 aperture and optical image stabilisation (OIS). Xiaomi says LOFIC HDR boosts highlight control; the company’s product page describes it as a way to preserve essential moments across light and shadow. Xiaomi’s product page
TechRadar’s April 2026 review explains the intended distinction from relying only on bracketed, multi-frame HDR: LOFIC is meant to give the sensor additional hardware-level headroom for highlights. Does the Xiaomi 17 Ultra have continuous optical zoom?
It has a variable focal length across a specified 75–100mm mechanical optical range on the telephoto camera. Xiaomi says three lens groups enable that range and lists 75mm, 85mm, 90mm and 100mm focal positions. Leica likewise describes the 75–100mm range as mechanical optical zoom. Xiaomi and Leica separately describe zoom reach up to 400mm equivalent as “optical-quality” zoom. That wording does not establish a continuous native optical range from 75mm to 400mm. Which video modes are listed?
Xiaomi Indonesia’s regional specification page lists rear video recording up to 8K at 30fps, 4K Dolby Vision up to 120fps and Log recording up to 4K at 120fps. Leica specifies Dolby Vision or ACES Log up to 4K/120fps on the main and telephoto cameras. These mode and camera qualifications matter: the specifications do not say that every resolution, frame rate and format can be combined at once. What does the Xiaomi 17 Ultra Photography Kit add?
The separately sold Xiaomi 17 Ultra Photography Kit adds physical camera controls, including a two-stage shutter release and a dedicated video button.
