The companies describe the combination as connecting threat investigation with backup-based recovery—not as a guarantee that attacks will be prevented or recovery will always succeed.
What the partnership includes
Rubrik said it would join Cisco SolutionsPlus, with Rubrik products—including Data Security Posture Management (DSPM)—added to Cisco’s Global Price List. Cisco’s direct and channel sales network could offer Rubrik Security Cloud alongside Cisco UCS infrastructure and Cisco XDR. How Rubrik works with Cisco XDR
The XDR integration is intended to bring information about protected and sensitive data into security teams’ investigation workflows. Rubrik says this context can help teams identify targeted attacks, investigate and prioritize threats, and recover securely. Cisco describes an automated snapshot of business-critical data early in incident response, with the option to recover impacted assets from recent immutable backup snapshots. Cisco’s alliance page
Rubrik’s XDR data sheet also describes sensitive-data context, anomaly detection and threat hunting, review of potentially safe restore points, and the ability to initiate a backup or restore from Cisco XDR. What the workflow is meant to connect
- Investigate: Cisco XDR handles security operations, while Rubrik supplies data context intended to help assess which attacks and assets matter.
- Preserve or assess recovery options: The vendors describe taking a backup snapshot during incident response and reviewing recent immutable snapshots as possible restore points.
- Recover: The integration can initiate a backup or restore action from Cisco XDR, according to Rubrik’s data sheet.
This is a described response workflow, not evidence that every incident will be detected early, that a particular snapshot will be safe, or that recovery will meet a specific time or data-loss target.
How Rubrik Security Cloud runs on Cisco UCS
The UCS component is an enterprise infrastructure deployment, distinct from the XDR security-operations integration. Rubrik says Rubrik Security Cloud on Cisco UCS was tested and pre-engineered with Cisco Validated Designs, with automated deployment, multi-site scaling, and lifecycle management through Cisco Intersight. The brief names Cisco UCS C225 M8 among supported-environment configurations, along with another UCS configuration. Its listed configurations are not a bill of materials: Rubrik directs buyers to a sales representative for validated hardware procurement. The configurations should therefore be treated as reference deployment information, not a complete parts list or standalone shopping recommendation.

Cisco Compute executive Jeremy Foster framed the combined approach as bringing threat detection and data context together to help security teams prioritize critical attacks and respond quickly. That statement is Cisco’s view of the partnership, not a measured outcome.

What buyers should verify
- Whether the specific Rubrik products and licenses needed—including DSPM, if relevant—are available through the customer’s intended Cisco sales route and fit the required deployment.
- Which validated UCS configuration matches the environment; the solution brief is not a bill of materials.
- How the Cisco XDR integration’s snapshot, restore-point review, and recovery actions map to the organization’s incident-response procedures and permissions.
- Any warranty eligibility and terms. The solution brief advertises an “up to a $10M ransomware recovery warranty” for Rubrik Enterprise Edition and says a specialized response team is available 24x7x365; these are vendor-offered terms, not a general guarantee of recovery outcomes.
What the announcement does—and does not—establish
Rubrik’s announcement relayed a Zero Labs figure that 66% of IT and security leaders reported data growth outpacing their ability to secure data and mitigate risk. The announcement does not establish that figure as an independent estimate or a current benchmark, so it should be read as context cited by Rubrik rather than proof of the partnership’s effectiveness.
The cited materials do not provide a head-to-head comparison with other vendors or quantified performance results. They explain the intended sales, infrastructure, and security-workflow connections; organizations must assess fit against their own architecture and response requirements.
