Red Hat Developer Hub 1.10 brings Developer Lightspeed to general availability, adds role-based layouts to the homepage, and makes a new upstream Frontend System available for early adopters and migration work. Those are three useful changes to focus on, but Red Hat’s release announcement lists a broader set of updates rather than defining an official trio. The release is based on Backstage 1.49.
What are the three biggest changes in Developer Hub 1.10?
The three changes below are an editorial selection from Red Hat’s wider release list, not a trio formally designated by the company. Their availability differs: Lightspeed is generally available, while the homepage update and Frontend System are described as product changes without a separate availability label in the announcement.
| Change | Status or positioning | Who it may matter to |
|---|---|---|
| Developer Lightspeed | Generally available, backed by a full Red Hat production SLA | Developers using the portal and teams adopting its AI assistant |
| Persona-aware homepage | Layouts can be controlled through role-based access control (RBAC) | Portal administrators tailoring the homepage for different roles |
| Upstream Frontend System | Available for early adopters, testing, and migration | Teams evaluating or moving to the upstream interface |
Red Hat describes Developer Hub as an enterprise developer portal built on Backstage to bring tools, documentation, and other resources together. Its stated aim is to reduce the cognitive load developers face when navigating their work.
Developer Lightspeed is now generally available
The most prominent status change is Developer Lightspeed reaching general availability (GA). Red Hat says it is backed by a full production service-level agreement (SLA), distinguishing it from features labeled preview. GA is a meaningful availability distinction; it is not a published performance benchmark or evidence of a particular productivity improvement.

The homepage can reflect user roles
Developer Hub 1.10 makes the homepage persona-aware, with layouts controlled by RBAC. In practical terms, the release introduces a role-based way to control homepage layouts. Red Hat’s announcement does not specify detailed setup steps or enumerate which roles, layout elements, or policies are available, so those specifics should not be assumed from the release note alone.
The Frontend System is an early-adoption path
The announcement says a new upstream Frontend System is available for early adopters, testing, and migration. That positions it as an option for teams evaluating or working toward a migration—not as a declaration that every Developer Hub installation should use it or that it is the default finished interface.

Personal AI notebooks are a separate Developer Preview
Personal AI notebooks are part of Developer Lightspeed, but they are in Developer Preview—not GA. Red Hat describes them as a way to ask questions against documents a user uploads, using retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) to ground responses in those files. This can suit questions such as “What are the core architectural principles of this service?” or “where an obscure config setting lives.”
Lucas Yoon’s Red Hat Developer feature article says, “Every claim the AI makes comes with a sources chip.” In that description, the chip links to a relevant file or snippet. The same article describes notebooks as private to each individual user and separated by task. These are vendor descriptions of preview behavior, not independent privacy or accuracy test results.

Because notebooks remain a preview, teams should distinguish the feature’s documented behavior and example configuration from a production commitment. Red Hat’s feature article is dated June 17, 2026, and was last updated June 30, 2026.
