Cato Networks announced on May 14, 2025, that it planned to triple the size of its Prague research and development center over the following year. The company calls Prague its European engineering hub; the announcement does not disclose the center’s starting headcount or a hiring total, and no source cited here confirms that the planned tripling was completed.

What Cato announced

Cato’s May 14, 2025 announcement set a one-year target to triple its Prague R&D center. That is a forward-looking company plan, not a verified report of growth already achieved. The release gives neither a baseline team size nor a numerical hiring target. Cato’s announcement describes Prague as the company’s European engineering hub.

What the Prague team is expected to work on

Cato says the expansion is intended to accelerate development of its Cato SASE Cloud Platform. It identifies work in scalable architecture, AI-driven threat detection, and next-generation global networking. These are the company’s descriptions of the team’s remit and the intended impact of the expansion.

Roles Cato listed

The announcement says Cato was hiring across engineering and other functions, but does not state how many positions were open or provide salary ranges.

Why Cato chose Prague

Cato cites Prague’s engineering talent, its access to the European Union market, and proximity to Israel’s innovation ecosystem. It also notes the city’s proximity to Cato’s Tel Aviv headquarters, describing the trip as a short flight with a one-hour time difference. These are the company’s stated reasons, not an independent assessment of Prague’s labor market or business advantages.

In a May 14, 2025 employer-branding blog, co-founder and CEO Shlomo Kramer similarly emphasized Prague’s workforce and proximity to Tel Aviv, and presented the expansion as an opportunity for local engineers. The blog also describes a modern office, hybrid work, full-time roles, compensation, and stock options; those representations may not apply to every vacancy. Kramer’s company blog

Has the Prague center tripled yet?

The cited Prague announcement and blog establish that Cato set a one-year expansion target in May 2025, but they do not establish whether it was met. They provide no starting or later headcount, and no subsequent confirmation of the Prague outcome is identified here. The accurate description is therefore a planned tripling announced in 2025, not a completed expansion.

How Prague fits Cato’s wider R&D footprint

Cato’s later announcements provide context but do not update Prague’s status. On June 30, 2025, the company announced a $359 million Series G financing round and said it would support increased R&D investment across areas including DEM, LAN Security, IoT/OT Security, SD-WAN, SSE, XDR, and ZTNA; the announcement does not specify a Prague allocation. On June 2, 2026, Cato announced a separate London AI hub, with stated focus areas in AI capabilities, SMB growth, and security innovation, and a plan to grow that team to nearly 50 members over three years. That London hiring plan is distinct from Prague’s 2025 target; the company’s announcements do not offer comparable headcounts, investment totals, or performance measures for the two sites.
