Lioran S3’s vendor-authored V1 Pre-Alpha documentation describes separate workflows for human accounts and programmatic access keys: create users, assign one of three named roles, manage passwords and account status, and issue or revoke keys for services. The documentation does not specify the exact permissions for each role, and the product is explicitly pre-alpha; treat these as documented examples, not independently verified behavior.
How Lioran S3 separates human and machine access
The vendor’s user-management article describes human accounts managed with passwords and roles, while programmatic access keys are intended for long-running services that should not depend on a person’s password. Each has its own lifecycle: users can be enabled, disabled, updated, or deleted; keys can be created, listed, rotated, and revoked.
The vendor’s overview also lists HTTP Basic authentication, Argon2id password hashing, mandatory rotation of the bootstrap password, programmatic access keys, and credential masking. These are vendor descriptions of a pre-alpha release, not independently tested security properties. The overview states that AWS S3 compatibility is not currently provided, so do not assume AWS IAM roles or AWS SDK authentication semantics apply.
What the three roles mean—and what is not specified
The user-management article names admin, readwrite, and readonly, and recommends choosing the least-privileged role that meets the workload. It does not publish a permission matrix or explain the precise actions allowed to each role. The names alone are not enough to infer bucket- or object-level access, administrative powers, or how authorization decisions are evaluated.

- BUILT TO LAST: Made from tough, waterproof, and crush-resistant materials. Manufactured in Sweden and programmed in the USA with the highest security standards.
Create and manage human users
The vendor article documents both driver calls and CLI examples for user administration. The following summarizes the operations it shows; consult the vendor-authored article for the exact command and code syntax: Lioran S3 user management.
- Create: add a user and assign a role.
- List and retrieve: view users or retrieve an individual user’s information.
- Change role: update a user’s assigned role.
- Disable or enable: suspend an account and later restore it.
- Reset or change a password: an administrator can reset another user’s password, with an option to require a password change; a user can also change their own password.
- Delete: remove an account.
These are documented workflows, not confirmation that the commands have been independently executed or tested for compatibility. The source does not specify all password policy requirements or how a disabled account affects already-issued programmatic keys.

- POWERFUL SECURITY KEY: The YubiKey 5C NFC is the most versatile physical passkey, protecting your digital life from phishing attacks. It ensures only you can access your accounts
- WORKS WITH 1000+ ACCOUNTS: Compatible with popular accounts like Google, Microsoft, and Apple. A single YubiKey 5C NFC secures 100+ of your favorite accounts, including email, password managers, and more
- FAST & CONVENIENT LOGIN: Plug in your YubiKey 5C NFC via USB and tap it, or tap it against your phone (NFC), to authenticate. No batteries, no internet connection, and no extra fees required
- MOST SECURE PASSKEY: Supports FIDO2/WebAuthn, FIDO U2F, Yubico OTP, OATH-TOTP/HOTP, Smart card (PIV), and OpenPGP. That means it’s versatile, working almost anywhere you need it
- PRIMARY & SPARE KEYS: Just like having a spare house key, we recommend buying two YubiKeys - one for daily use and one as a spare. That way you’ll never get locked out of your accounts
Create and rotate a programmatic access key
The article’s example creates a named key for a user and includes an expiry timestamp. It returns a key ID and secret, then shows configuring a client with the access key, secret key, host, and TLS enabled. The example uses a 90-day expiry as illustrative code; it is not a universal interval or published security recommendation.
- Create a distinct key for the service. The article shows naming the key, associating it with a user, and optionally specifying an expiry.
- Capture the secret immediately. The article says, “The secret is returned when the key is created.” It says not to expect the original secret to be retrievable later, so store it securely at creation.
- Configure the client. Use the key ID and secret with the Lioran S3 host and TLS setting shown in the vendor example.
- Rotate when needed. The article documents rotation and says it invalidates the old secret. Update the service with the new credentials so it does not continue relying on the invalidated secret.
- Revoke or delete keys no longer needed. The documented lifecycle includes listing and deleting keys; revoke a key when its service is decommissioned.
For the documented key lifecycle and code examples, see the Lioran S3 user-management article. The source does not establish integration with any external secrets manager.

Operational practices for accounts and keys
The vendor article recommends separate keys per service, expiry for temporary keys, revoking keys when a service is decommissioned, different identities across staging and production, and never committing secrets to Git. These are practical recommendations; the available documentation does not establish that Lioran S3 enforces separate environments, least privilege beyond role assignment, or a particular secret-storage integration.
- Use human accounts for people and distinct service credentials for applications rather than sharing a person’s password with a service.
- Assign the least-privileged named role that fits the workload, while recognizing the published article does not define each role’s exact scope.
- Keep staging and production credentials separate and use a separate key for each service.
- Store a new key secret securely as soon as it is created, and never put it in a Git repository.
- Choose expiry based on the service’s needs; the code sample’s 90-day value is illustrative, not a general rule.
Pre-alpha security caveat
The Lioran S3 V1 Pre-Alpha overview includes the warning: “Do not use this release for mission-critical workloads without rigorous validation.” This is the vendor’s release warning, not an independent audit finding. The reviewed vendor-authored material does not establish the detailed permission model, bucket/object-level scope, complete authorization sequence, or external secret-manager support. Validate the product against your own requirements before relying on these workflows.
