Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 is the stronger choice on the evidence available here if you need a listed 5G platform or want the higher scores in NanoReview’s benchmark comparison. MediaTek’s Helio G81 is a 4G platform, and its comparison-page scores are lower. Those figures are third-party reported results, not a guarantee that every Snapdragon phone will feel faster: handset design, software, cooling and benchmark version matter.

Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 vs Helio G81: key differences

Feature Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 Helio G81
Cellular connectivity Qualcomm lists a Snapdragon X51 5G Modem-RF System with sub-6 GHz 5G. Actual bands and availability depend on the phone and market. MediaTek lists 4G technologies, including dual 4G VoLTE.
CPU description Qualcomm specifies a Kryo CPU up to 2 GHz. NanoReview identifies its comparison configuration as two Cortex-A78 and six Cortex-A55 cores. Two Arm Cortex-A75 cores and six Cortex-A55 cores. MediaTek’s page gives conflicting maximum clocks for the A55 cores, so no single figure is quoted here.
Graphics Adreno GPU; the captured official specification does not state an equivalent model or frequency. Arm Mali-G52 MC2, up to 820 MHz.
Memory and storage details on cited official pages Equivalent details are not stated in the captured Qualcomm specification. LPDDR4x memory up to 8 GB; eMMC 5.1 storage.
Other listed platform features 6 nm; Wi-Fi 5; Bluetooth 5.2; FHD+ display support up to 120 fps; dual-frequency L1/L5 GNSS; NFC; Quick Charge 4+. Wi-Fi 5; Bluetooth 5.0; maximum display resolution 2520 × 1080; MediaTek HyperEngine features.

Which chip has the higher benchmark scores?

NanoReview’s comparison page reports higher Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 results in AnTuTu 10 and Geekbench 6. These are page-reported values, not results independently reproduced in identical test phones. The comparison material does not identify the exact test devices or controlled test conditions.

Benchmark reported by NanoReview Helio G81 Snapdragon 4 Gen 1
AnTuTu 10 total 258,706 414,923
Geekbench 6 single-core 420 837
Geekbench 6 multi-core 1,391 1,875
3DMark Wild Life No result available in this comparison; this is not a measured zero. 1,039; 6 fps; 99% stability

What the specifications mean for phones

Connectivity: 5G is the clearest platform-level distinction

Qualcomm lists the Snapdragon X51 modem with sub-6 GHz 5G support, while MediaTek’s Helio G81 page lists 4G connectivity. A chip specification does not confirm that every phone using it supports every local network band. Check the exact phone model and regional variant before buying.

CPU and graphics: architecture is only part of performance

The cited descriptions give both chips eight CPU cores, but the identified performance cores differ: Cortex-A78 for Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 in NanoReview’s comparison data, versus Cortex-A75 for Helio G81 in MediaTek’s official specification. Both descriptions include six Cortex-A55 cores. Qualcomm describes an Adreno GPU without a comparable model or frequency in the captured specification; MediaTek specifies Mali-G52 MC2 up to 820 MHz. These details help explain the platforms but do not predict a specific phone’s sustained performance on their own.
