The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE takes a microSD card in the front of its SIM/microSD tray. Use the tray tool to remove the tray, seat the card in the shaped slot, then slide the tray fully back into the phone. Exact tray and SIM configurations vary by model, so check your phone before buying a card or expecting to use two SIMs alongside it.

Samsung lists microSD support up to 1TB for the Galaxy S20 FE 5G SM-G781V and for the S20 FE specification on its Ireland site. Those specifications are model- and market-specific; confirm your exact model and its supported capacity rather than assuming every S20 FE variant is identical. Samsung’s Ireland specification identifies a hybrid SIM or microSD slot, meaning the card position may be shared with a second SIM. Use a microSD card
The phone uses the smaller microSD format, not a full-size SD card. The cited specifications establish supported card type and capacity, but not a minimum speed class for installation. Choose capacity based on your model’s specification and your storage needs.
Install the microSD card
- Locate the SIM/microSD tray. Use the tray illustration in Samsung’s Galaxy S20 FE 5G user manual to distinguish its opening from a microphone hole.
- Eject the tray. Insert the supplied tray removal tool into the tray opening and gently press until the tray releases. Pull the tray out carefully.
- Seat the microSD card. Place it in the designated front of the tray and press gently until it sits in place. Follow the tray’s outline and markings; do not force the card. Samsung’s setup instructions say: “Gently press the microSD™ card into the front of the tray.”
- Add a SIM if needed. If your tray supports it, flip the tray and place the SIM in the back. A hybrid tray may require choosing between a second SIM and a microSD card.
- Reinsert the tray. Slide it into the phone in its original orientation until it is securely seated. Do not leave it partly open.
Confirm the phone detects the card
After the tray is back in place, check the phone’s storage settings or file manager for the microSD card. Menu labels and paths can vary with the installed software version, so use the storage or file-management screen available on your device. If the card does not appear, check that it is seated in the tray correctly and that the tray is fully inserted; avoid forcing the tray or card.

Keep the tray area dry and clean
Samsung instructs users to keep the SIM/memory-card tray openings free of dust and water and to secure the tray before exposing the phone to liquids. Keep the tray area dry when handling it, and make sure the tray is fully seated. The manual identifies the device as IP68-rated, but that rating is not a guarantee of permanent water resistance; do not treat opening the tray while wet as safe.
