The Galaxy S26 Plus is the larger-screen option, while Tom’s Guide describes the iPhone 17 Pro as smaller and in a similar launch-price tier. The available figures do not establish a reliable current price difference between the two: Samsung’s US listing and a later price report conflict, and there is no verified same-market iPhone checkout price to compare. Your practical choice comes down first to phone size and iOS versus Android; check current prices for the same storage tier before deciding on cost.
At a glance: the main differences
| What matters | Galaxy S26 Plus | iPhone 17 Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Size | Samsung lists a 6.7-inch display and a 190g handset measuring 158.4 × 75.8 × 7.3mm. | Tom’s Guide describes it as smaller than the S26 Plus; an exact size was not established by the sources cited here. |
| Operating system | Android with Samsung’s One UI. | iOS. |
| Rear cameras | 50MP wide, 12MP ultrawide, and 10MP telephoto with 3× optical zoom, according to Samsung. | Exact specifications were not established by the sources cited here. |
| Processor | Exynos 2600 on Samsung’s Ireland specifications page; Tom’s Guide reports that the phone uses Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy or Exynos 2600 depending on market. | Not stated in the cited sources. |
| Storage | 256GB or 512GB; Samsung Ireland lists 12GB memory for both tiers. | Not stated in the cited sources. |
| Current comparable price | US figures conflict: Samsung’s retrieved listing showed $1,099.99 for unlocked 256GB, while Tom’s Guide reported a $1,199 US starting price for 256GB on October 1, 2026. | A current US checkout price was not established. |
Samsung specifications are regional manufacturer claims, not independent test results. No controlled, direct comparison of these exact two models was verified for camera quality, battery life, or performance.
Which phone is the better fit for you?
Choose by size and screen
The S26 Plus is the clear choice here if you want the larger screen: Samsung lists a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 3120 × 1440 resolution and refresh rates up to 120Hz. Its listed dimensions and 190g weight make it a substantial handset. Tom’s Guide describes the iPhone 17 Pro as smaller, which may suit you better if compact handling matters more than viewing area. The sources cited here do not establish an exact iPhone display size for a numerical comparison.
Choose by operating system
This is also a choice between iOS and Android with Samsung’s One UI. If you already prefer one system, that preference is more useful than declaring a universal winner: the available material does not compare the two ecosystems’ features or establish that one suits every buyer better.

- Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.
- When you receive the phone, insert a SIM card from a compatible carrier. Then, turn it on, connect to Wi-Fi, and follow the on screen prompts to activate service.
- The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a generic (Mfi certified) charger and charging cable.
- Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.
Choose by camera priorities, not megapixels
Samsung specifies three rear cameras: a 50MP wide camera at f/1.8, a 12MP ultrawide at f/2.2, and a 10MP telephoto at f/2.4. Samsung lists 3× optical zoom and up to 30× digital zoom. These details describe the S26 Plus hardware; megapixel counts alone cannot show which phone takes better photos. No direct controlled camera comparison between the S26 Plus and iPhone 17 Pro was verified here, and the exact iPhone camera specifications are not established by the cited sources.
Consider battery claims cautiously
Samsung lists the S26 Plus battery at a typical capacity of 4900mAh and claims up to 31 hours of video playback. The playback figure is a manufacturer claim, not an independent test. It cannot establish that the S26 Plus lasts longer than the iPhone 17 Pro without like-for-like testing of these exact models.

What the S26 Plus specifications establish
Samsung Ireland lists the S26 Plus with a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen, 3120 × 1440 resolution, dimensions of 158.4 × 75.8 × 7.3mm, and a weight of 190g. Its specifications also identify IP68 durability and an Armor Aluminum frame with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the front and back. These are Samsung’s listed specifications.
Samsung Ireland lists 256GB and 512GB storage options, each with 12GB memory. The processor needs a regional check: Samsung’s Ireland page identifies Exynos 2600, while Tom’s Guide says other markets may receive Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy. Samsung’s retrieved US purchase listing did not identify its chipset in the excerpt available, so do not assume the Ireland processor applies to a US model.

Samsung says the S26 Plus can charge to up to 69% in around 30 minutes. Its US purchase listing says a charger is not included, so factor in a compatible charger if you do not already have one. The cited material does not establish a specific charger recommendation.
Why a current price difference cannot be stated
The available US S26 Plus figures conflict, and there is no current verified iPhone 17 Pro US checkout price in the cited sources. That means a definitive current price gap would be misleading. Samsung’s retrieved listing showed one price, but Tom’s Guide reported a later increase; the two figures cannot safely be treated as interchangeable current offers.

To compare what you would actually pay, match the country, storage capacity, unlocked or carrier status, and purchase date. Check taxes and promotions at checkout as well. Brazil-market amounts shown by Oficina da Net are in Brazilian reais and should not be compared directly with US-dollar prices.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to make the final comparison
- Decide which size suits you. Pick the S26 Plus if its larger 6.7-inch screen is your priority; consider the smaller iPhone 17 Pro if compact handling is more important.
- Settle the operating-system choice. Choose between iOS and Android with One UI based on your own preference, rather than assuming one is universally better.
- Check the exact regional S26 Plus variant. Confirm the processor for the market where you will buy it before comparing performance.
- Compare cameras against your actual needs. Look beyond megapixels and seek comparable results for the photo or video situations you care about; no direct test of this exact pair is established here.
- Compare matching checkout totals. Use the same country and storage tier, and include current promotions, taxes, carrier terms, and any charger you may need.
Sources and limits
Samsung’s regional specifications are available on its Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus specifications page. The retrieved US listing is Samsung’s unlocked Galaxy S26+ 256GB purchase page. Tom’s Guide provides its Galaxy S26 Plus review and its October 1, 2026 price-hike report. Oficina da Net’s Brazil-market comparison uses Brazilian reais. The Apple specifications page opened during source collection redirected to Apple’s general iPhone page, so exact iPhone 17 Pro specifications and a current local price are not supplied here.
