The Nothing Phone (3a) adds a dedicated 2x optical-zoom telephoto camera and has a larger, brighter-rated display on paper. The Phone (2a) Plus instead offers higher stated resolution for its ultrawide and selfie cameras, and its product page specifies 50 W charging. In the cited European listings, the Phone (3a) started at €329 and the Phone (2a) Plus at €399, so the newer model was €70 cheaper in that snapshot—not more expensive. These are manufacturer specifications and regional, time-sensitive listed prices, not independent test results.

What is the difference between the Nothing Phone (2a) Plus and Phone (3a)?

The biggest specification difference is the rear-camera setup. The Phone (3a) has a dedicated 50 MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom, alongside an 8 MP ultrawide. The Phone (2a) Plus has a 50 MP ultrawide instead, and pairs it with a 50 MP front camera; the Phone (3a)’s front camera is 32 MP.

The Phone (3a) also lists a slightly larger 6.77-inch display and a 3000-nit peak-brightness rating, compared with the Plus’s 6.7-inch display and 1300-nit peak figure. Both list 120 Hz AMOLED displays and 5000 mAh batteries. The Plus specifies 50 W charging, while the cited Phone (3a) specification page does not provide a directly comparable charging-speed figure.

Which phone has the better cameras?

Choose the Phone (3a) for optical zoom

Its dedicated telephoto camera provides 2x optical zoom, a distinct camera option that the Plus does not list. The Phone (3a) also retains a 50 MP main camera with OIS/EIS. Its ultrawide is rated at 8 MP, and its front camera at 32 MP.

Choose the Phone (2a) Plus for stated ultrawide and selfie resolution

The Plus lists a 50 MP ultrawide and 50 MP front camera, compared with 8 MP and 32 MP respectively on the Phone (3a). Resolution alone does not establish which phone takes better photos: the cited specifications do not provide comparative image-quality tests.

How do their displays, batteries and charging compare?

Both phones list 120 Hz AMOLED displays and 5000 mAh battery capacity. The Phone (3a)’s display is listed at 6.77 inches, with adaptive 120 Hz refresh, HDR10+ and 3000-nit peak brightness. The Plus lists a 6.7-inch flexible AMOLED display, 120 Hz refresh and 1300-nit peak brightness.

The Plus page specifies 50 W charging. Because the cited Phone (3a) page does not give a directly comparable charging-speed figure, the available specifications do not establish which charges faster. Nothing advertises up to 26 hours of YouTube playback for the Phone (3a), but that is a manufacturer claim rather than an independent battery-life test. The equal battery-capacity ratings do not, by themselves, prove equal real-world endurance.

What do their software support and durability ratings show?

The Phone (2a) Plus product page lists Nothing OS 2.6 based on Android 14 and states three Android-version updates plus four years of security patches. The cited Phone (3a) page lists Nothing OS 3, but the available material does not establish its support duration. If update longevity is a deciding factor, confirm the current regional support commitment for the Phone (3a) before buying.

For dust and water resistance, the Plus is rated IP54 and the Phone (3a) IP64 in the cited product information. These ratings distinguish the models on paper; they are not a guarantee against damage in every exposure or a substitute for checking the applicable regional product terms.

Is the Nothing Phone (3a) cheaper than the Phone (2a) Plus?

In the cited European listings, the Phone (3a) was shown with a €329 starting price and the Phone (2a) Plus with a €399 starting price—a €70 difference in favor of the Phone (3a). These are regional, time-sensitive starting prices, not a controlled comparison of matching storage configurations, and they may no longer be current. Check both manufacturers’ listings for the same country and storage capacity before deciding; a European list price does not establish the price in another market.

Which Nothing phone should you choose?

  • Pick the Phone (3a) if a dedicated 2x optical-zoom camera, a larger display, a higher stated peak-brightness rating, or the cited European starting price matters most to you.
  • Pick the Phone (2a) Plus if you value its 50 MP selfie camera or ultrawide camera, or want a stated 50 W charging specification.
  • Compare current same-market prices and storage if cost is decisive; the cited starting-price snapshot may not match what is available where you live.
  • Check the Phone (3a)’s regional update commitment if software support duration is central to how long you plan to keep the phone.

These are feature-based choices. The available product specifications do not establish a winner for processing speed, photo quality, charging time or real-world battery life.
