The Galaxy A37 5G launched in the UK at £50 more than the Galaxy A34 5G did at the same 128GB/6GB tier—but those are launch prices from 2026 and 2023, not today’s prices. The A37 adds a slightly larger display, an IP68 rating and a stated commitment of up to six OS upgrades and six years of security updates. Both have a 5,000mAh typical battery, while the camera hardware changes only modestly on paper. Whether the A37 is worth more now depends on the actual offers available for the same storage tier.

Samsung’s UK launch figures are documented in its 2023 A34 announcement and 2026 A37 availability announcement.
What changed in the specifications?
Display: a modest increase in size
The A37’s display measures 6.7 inches diagonally, against 6.6 inches on the A34. Both are FHD+ Super AMOLED screens, and Samsung lists up to 120Hz for the A34. Samsung also describes Vision Booster on the A37. The tenth-of-an-inch difference is small; it does not by itself establish a major change in everyday viewing quality.

Cameras: slightly higher main-camera resolution on the A37
The A37’s rear main camera is listed at 50MP with optical image stabilization (OIS), compared with 48MP with OIS on the A34. Both have an 8MP ultrawide and a 5MP macro camera. The listed A34 selfie camera is 13MP; Samsung’s cited A37 product information lists a 12MP front camera. These hardware figures do not establish which phone produces better photos: no head-to-head image test is available here.
Battery and charging: same capacity, not a runtime verdict
Samsung lists a typical 5,000mAh battery for each phone. Capacity alone cannot show which lasts longer: battery life depends on network conditions, features, apps and usage. For the A37, Samsung says Super Fast Charging 2.0 can charge the phone to 60% in 30 minutes. That is a manufacturer figure, not an independent test; the cited A34 specifications do not establish a directly comparable charging result.

Durability: IP68 on the A37, IP67 on the A34
The A34 carries an IP67 rating and the A37 an IP68 rating. These are ratings under laboratory conditions, not a promise that either phone is waterproof. Samsung describes the A37’s IP68 resistance in freshwater test conditions and warns that resistance can diminish through normal wear. Avoid treating a rating as protection against every liquid, depth or exposure.
Software support: a stated commitment for the A37
Samsung lists up to six OS upgrades and up to six years of security updates for the A37. The Samsung sources cited for this comparison do not state an equivalent support duration for the A34, so its remaining update period should not be inferred solely from its 2023 launch date.

Is the Galaxy A37 worth the extra money?
The A37 is the stronger case if the price gap you actually find is acceptable and you value its stated support commitment, IP68 rating or newer model. Its screen is only 0.1 inch larger, the main-camera resolution rises from 48MP to 50MP, and the battery capacity remains 5,000mAh; those specifications alone do not prove a substantial improvement in viewing, photos or endurance. No comparative performance or camera test is established here, so do not assume the A37 is faster or takes better pictures based only on these figures.
If you are choosing between them today, compare the live price of the exact RAM and storage tier first. Then decide whether the A37’s stated support, higher ingress-protection rating and charging claim justify the difference for your needs. Confirm network compatibility and regional specifications, since Samsung notes that availability and features can differ by market.
