Open Samsung Find or SmartThings Find in a browser, sign in with the Samsung account associated with the missing phone, and select it from your devices. You can also use another Galaxy device. This works only if the phone and relevant remote-find settings were set up beforehand; a powered-off phone may show only its last known location.
Find the phone from a browser or another Galaxy device
- Open Samsung Find or SmartThings Find on the web, or open the service on another Galaxy device. Samsung’s US guidance provides access through websites and Galaxy devices: Samsung Support.
- Sign in with the Samsung account already added to the missing phone.
- Select the phone in the device list and check the map and available actions.
Samsung’s US guidance lists power, a stable network connection, a Samsung account, and enabled remote controls among the requirements for its remote tools. Availability and exact options can vary by region, model, software version, and settings.
Understand what the location means
Phone is on and connected
Samsung says the phone needs to be on and connected to a stable network for its remote service. A map result should not automatically be treated as a guaranteed real-time GPS fix; conditions and service availability affect what you see.
Phone is powered off
Samsung says only the last known location is available when the phone is off. That point may be out of date.

Offline finding is enabled
If Offline finding was enabled in advance and the phone is supported, nearby Galaxy devices may help relay an offline location. Samsung UK notes that supported devices and specifications vary. A Find Node report is not an exact location, so treat it as a clue rather than a precise pin. See Samsung’s UK Samsung Find guidance and UK SmartThings Find explanation.
Phone may be moving
Samsung’s US guide says Track location sends updates every 15 minutes. This is the interval described in that guide, not a guarantee for every model, region, or situation. Samsung Find may also offer a notify-when-found option; Samsung Canada describes this feature in its Canadian support guidance.

Choose the action that fits

| It is probably nearby | Ring | Samsung says the phone rings for one minute, even if it is set to mute or vibrate. |
| It may be moving | Track location | Samsung’s US guide describes location updates every 15 minutes; use this as guidance, not a promise. |
| You need to restrict access | Lock | Samsung’s guide describes setting a PIN and optionally displaying an emergency contact and message on the lock screen. |
| Battery is running low | Extend battery life | Activates Maximum power saving mode; Samsung does not state an exact added runtime. |
| Recovery looks unlikely or data is at immediate risk | Erase data | Performs a remote factory reset and removes local data. |
Lock or erase the phone carefully
Lock it to protect access
Use Lock when you want to restrict access while leaving recovery options available. Follow the prompts in the service; Samsung says you can set a PIN and optionally add an emergency contact and message to the lock screen.
Erase only after weighing the consequences
Erasing data is a factory reset, not a reversible lock. Consider whether you have a backup and can recover access to your accounts before proceeding. Samsung says Google device protection may require the Google account registered on the phone if it is recovered after erasure. If remote erasure fails, Samsung advises changing passwords for accounts that may be signed in; changing the Samsung account password logs out devices using that account. If you suspect the phone was stolen
Do not go to the map location yourself. Samsung Support’s direction is: “If you are using SmartThings Find or Samsung Find to locate a stolen phone or tablet, do not go directly to the location on the map. Inform the authorities and let them retrieve it for you.” Contact law enforcement and share the information they request.
Contact your carrier to ask whether it can suspend service or offer other assistance. Samsung says a carrier may provide help locating or suspending a device; availability depends on the carrier.

Set up Samsung Find before you need it
If you still have the phone, Samsung’s US directions are Settings → Security and privacy → Lost device protection. Check “Allow this phone to be found,” “Send last location,” and “Offline finding,” and make sure a Samsung account is added. Menu wording can differ by model and software version.
Samsung UK lists Android 8 or higher for phone and tablet offline finding, while noting that supported devices and specifications vary. This is UK service information, not a guarantee that every model or region supports the same features. Samsung also says Find My Mobile is now part of SmartThings Find; its features require a network connection and the relevant setting to be enabled: Samsung UK support.
