INTERPOL’s Global Complex for Innovation (IGCI) in Singapore supports international cybercrime coordination, secure threat-intelligence sharing, training and regional investigations. It is not a newly opened facility: INTERPOL says it became operational in April 2015.
What the INTERPOL complex does
The IGCI is an INTERPOL facility that supports the organization’s regional presence and extends the work of its Command and Coordination Centre, which provides round-the-clock support to member countries. INTERPOL describes the complex as a hub for technology, partnerships and training. More than 140 staff worked there, according to the organization’s account of its tenth anniversary in June 2025. Cyber Fusion Centre
The IGCI’s Cyber Fusion Centre facilitates secure, real-time sharing of intelligence about cyber threats. That function helps law-enforcement agencies exchange information across borders; it is not the same as a consumer-facing cyber-help desk or a single national police investigation unit.
Regional investigations and operations
The complex hosts INTERPOL’s Asia and South Pacific Desk. Through the Asia and South Pacific Joint Operations against Cybercrime project, the desk coordinates multinational investigations, supports joint operations and facilitates intelligence sharing. INTERPOL’s regional threat assessment describes work addressing threats such as infostealers, phishing, banking malware and ransomware, alongside regional capacity building and operational coordination. Is the complex actually new?
No. INTERPOL reported that the IGCI became operational in April 2015 and marked its tenth anniversary in June 2025. The word “new” in the original headline can therefore mislead if it suggests a recent opening or establishment. The relevant story is the role of an established international facility in ongoing cybercrime work.
The building was formally handed over in 2014. At that time, Singapore Second Minister S. Iswaran described crime as increasingly transnational and complex; that was a statement at the handover, not a new comment about current operations. INTERPOL’s 2014 handover announcement

How it differs from Singapore’s Cyber Command
Singapore’s Police Force announced a separate Cyber Command in 2026. It is a national police initiative, located at the Police Cantonment Complex, while the IGCI is INTERPOL’s Singapore facility for international coordination. They are distinct organizations with different mandates and locations.
| Facility or unit | Institution and role | Location and timeline |
|---|---|---|
| INTERPOL Global Complex for Innovation (IGCI) | INTERPOL facility supporting international coordination, cyber-threat intelligence sharing, training and regional operations. | Singapore; operational since April 2015, according to INTERPOL. |
| SPF Cyber Command | Singapore Police Force national command announced to combat scams and cybercrime, with cyber operations, investigations and partnership functions. | Police Cantonment Complex; announced in 2026 by the Singapore Police Force. |

What the IGCI’s wider innovation work includes
INTERPOL’s 2026 Innovation Centre priorities include digital forensics, drone technologies, and artificial intelligence and synthetic media. These priorities are part of the centre’s broader law-enforcement innovation work; they should not be mistaken for an exhaustive list of the complex’s activities or as exclusively cybercrime operations. The Singapore Police Force said its Anti-Scam Centre had recovered more than S$730 million for scam victims since the centre was established in 2019. That is an SPF figure about its Anti-Scam Centre, not an outcome attributed to INTERPOL’s IGCI. The distinction matters: international coordination and national victim-recovery work are different functions, even when both address cyber-enabled crime and scams.
