PGR: real-time control, orbs, and dodges
PGR is an action RPG, not a turn-based game. Kuro’s official Japanese site describes it as a free-to-play 3D mobile action RPG and lists Android, iOS, and Windows. Check your local store for availability, since the official listing cited here is regional: Kuro Games’ PGR site.
Combat involves more than repeatedly attacking. A community-maintained guide describes matching three signal orbs of the same color at once—a “3-Ping”—which can activate a matching teammate’s QTE. It also describes a correctly timed dodge as triggering Matrix, and character switching as a tactical option. HSR: turn-by-turn ability choices
HSR is turn-based: instead of steering characters through a real-time fight, you choose abilities and plan how the team’s actions work together. HoYoverse’s Version 4.4 announcement, published in July 2026, illustrates this through character mechanics and combat effects. Which game has better team building?
Neither system is simply better; they reward different kinds of decisions. PGR makes squad coordination part of moment-to-moment execution: orb matches, QTEs, dodges, and switches all happen while combat is active. HSR puts more weight on choosing characters whose abilities and roles work together, then sequencing those actions through turn-based combat. HoYoverse’s official character catalog describes playable characters, but the available sources do not establish current best teams or rankings for either game.

How gacha and character recruitment compare
Both games use randomized character recruitment, but do not assume their banners share the same rates, pity, or guarantee rules. Make the choice based on the combat you want to spend time with: PGR for active control and timing, or HSR for turn-based planning.
