There is no single best Construct for every new or free-to-play account in Punishing: Gray Raven. Start with the units you already have, identify the role or element your roster lacks, then pursue a unit you can realistically obtain and build. A top-tier Attacker is less useful on a fresh account if you cannot support it with a workable team.
How to choose the best Constructs for a new account
Judge a Construct in the context of the team it can join, not by a tier label alone. For a given element, look at damage, Tank coverage, and an Amplifier or other support option. Then weigh the role against your actual roster and the content you play.
- Roster fit: Prefer a character who fills a real gap over a duplicate role with no team around it.
- Element and role coverage: Mono-element, role-balanced teams are a useful endgame framework, but a beginner should adapt that framework to available units.
- Acquisition: Consider whether the character is currently obtainable and what the live banner guarantees. Do not spend scarce pulls solely because a list places a unit in S tier.
- Investment and usability: A unit is only a practical priority if you can build it and use its rotation comfortably.
- Content fit: Prioritize what helps with the modes you actually play rather than treating an endgame roster as a mandatory starting point.
LootBar’s third-party guide, published April 30, 2026 and updated August 26, 2026, organizes teams by element and role and describes Fire and Physical as more accessible starting points for newer players. That is a useful way to think about team-building, not official guidance or a guarantee that either element is best for every account. LootBar’s PGR tier list also discusses newer characters and endgame modes, so its rankings should not be read as a fresh-account pull order.
What current tier lists can—and cannot—tell you
Pocket Gamer’s tier list was updated September 2, 2026 for version 4.7. It places a wide mix of Constructs from different elements, roles, and release eras in S tier. LootBar instead compares characters by element and role. Because their methods and audiences differ, the labels are not directly interchangeable, and neither list alone answers who a beginner should pursue first.

Pocket Gamer’s examples help illustrate why role matters: Kamui: Tenebrion is described as a flexible Tank, Liv: Luminance as a healer, and Lee: Entropy as a Physical damage dealer. These are role examples, not a ranking of what every new player should select. Check the version and Global availability of any recommendation before planning around it. Read Pocket Gamer’s version 4.7 tier list.
Use early guarantees and free rewards before committing pulls
A Beginner’s Guide search result reports a 40-pull first S-rank pity on Member Recruit and recommends using that result before choosing from the base-game S-rank selector. The logic is practical: first see which unit the account receives, then use a selector—if its current terms allow—to fill a remaining gap. The guide page could not be independently opened, so treat the number and selector details as unverified until you check the current Global client.

- Open the live Member Recruit banner and read its pity and guarantee details before spending.
- Use the first S-rank result, if those terms are still shown in your client, to assess your roster.
- Review the selector’s current eligible Constructs and choose only after identifying a role or element gap.
- Check each banner’s guarantee and carry-over rules separately; do not assume every banner type follows the same rules.
The Beginner’s Guide search result says the selector is limited to base-game S-rank Constructs, but this should also be confirmed against the selector shown in-game. Consult the Beginner’s Guide alongside the live banner and selector wording.
Pocket Gamer’s September 2026 article calls Bianca: Zero a seven-day login reward. Login offers can change, so verify the active schedule in-game rather than building a plan around an older reward claim. The same article advises saving Black Cards for event summons; apply that advice only after checking the currently available banner and its terms.
A practical priority order for F2P players
- Inventory what you already own. Note each Construct’s element and role, then identify the team gaps that block your current goals.
- Use guaranteed or free options first. Check active login rewards and the live selector and banner terms before deciding where limited resources go.
- Choose a direction, not a permanent tier-list winner. Fire and Physical are described as accessible starting points in LootBar’s updated guide, but your existing units may make a different element the sensible choice.
- Build a usable team around the priority unit. Account for Tank and support coverage instead of investing only in an Attacker.
- Recheck before every pull decision. Global availability, reward schedules, and banner rules are version-dependent; use the current in-game details rather than assuming older guide information still applies.
Do not rely on a universal pull budget or assumed F2P income rate: the cited material does not establish one. Your safest decision is the one grounded in the guarantees and roster displayed in your own client.
