On Xiaomi India’s store, the 8GB + 256GB Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G was listed at ₹39,999 and the 8GB + 256GB REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G at ₹49,999 on October 4, 2026—a displayed difference of ₹10,000. The 17 Pro Max lists a larger 9210mAh battery; the 15 Pro+ lists a higher-resolution 200MP main camera. Both are specified with 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED displays and refresh rates up to 120Hz. Prices are observed promotional storefront prices, not fixed launch prices or a global comparison.
Price difference in India
The Xiaomi India store displayed the following prices for matching 8GB + 256GB configurations when checked on October 4, 2026:

That makes the 17 Pro Max ₹10,000 more at the displayed prices. The store also showed crossed-out prices of ₹49,999 and ₹69,999, respectively; these should not be treated as launch MSRPs. Promotions and prices can change, so check the current Xiaomi India store listing before buying. This is a comparison for one retailer, country, date and configuration—not a worldwide price gap.
Xiaomi UK’s Note 15 Series page separately displayed a £429 starting price for the Note 15 Pro+ and labeled it “Coming soon.” The cited information does not give a matched current UK price for both phones, so it does not establish a UK price difference.

These are manufacturer specifications, not results from a controlled head-to-head test. Xiaomi’s brightness figures come from different regional pages and are not directly comparable measurements under shared test conditions. Verify the local package contents for the exact model and market you plan to buy.
Which phone has the bigger battery?
The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G has the larger published capacity: 9210mAh, compared with 6500mAh for the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G. Both specifications list charging support up to 100W, although the 17 Pro Max also specifies up to 27W wired reverse charging. Capacity and charging ratings alone do not establish real-world battery life or how long a full charge takes.

Which has the better camera?
The Redmi Note 15 Pro+ lists a 200MP OIS main camera, while the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max lists a 50MP OIS main camera. Both list an 8MP ultra-wide camera. The higher megapixel count is a specification difference, not proof that the 15 Pro+ takes better photos; image quality depends on more than resolution, and no comparable camera samples or independent camera tests are established here.
What the other specs do—and do not—tell you
Displays
Both phones are specified with a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel and a refresh rate up to 120Hz. Xiaomi lists peak brightness of 3200 nits for the 15 Pro+ on its India page and up to 3500 nits for the 17 Pro Max on its UK/Global page. Those vendor figures use different regional specifications; they are not a controlled brightness comparison.

Processors
The listed chips are Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 for the 15 Pro+ and Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 for the 17 Pro Max. Chip names alone do not establish which phone is faster in everyday use. No independent benchmark results are available here to support a performance ranking.
Water-resistance wording
Xiaomi’s Global product page says the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G “has passed the TÜV SÜD 2-meter, 72-hour water-resistant test,” describing protection against everyday splashes. That is Xiaomi’s statement, not an independent assessment presented here. Xiaomi also says the device is not a professional waterproof product, resistance may degrade, and liquid damage from immersion is not covered by warranty. Do not interpret the statement as permission to submerge the phone.

Which one should you choose?
- Consider the 17 Pro Max if its larger listed battery capacity, wired reverse charging specification or other model-specific features matter more to you, and you are comfortable with the higher observed India-store price.
- Consider the 15 Pro+ if you prefer its listed 200MP OIS main-camera resolution or want the lower of these two observed India-store prices.
- Compare the local listings carefully if you are buying outside India: prices, availability, adapter inclusion and product-page details can vary by region.
