For an iPhone app submission, Apple requires a screenshot in the 6.9-inch display class—or in the 6.5-inch class if you don’t provide a 6.9-inch screenshot. Apps that run on iPad need a screenshot in the 13-inch class. You do not need to upload a separate screenshot for every screen size, although Apple still accepts many older-size images. This guide reflects Apple’s published guidance checked October 4, 2026; its live screenshot specifications may change.
What screenshot sizes does App Store Connect require?
Apple’s submission minimum is one screenshot in the applicable required display class, not a full set for every supported device size. For iPhone, provide a 6.9-inch screenshot; if you don’t provide one, provide a 6.5-inch screenshot. For an app that runs on iPad, provide a 13-inch screenshot. Other accepted display sizes are optional.
Apple announced the change on September 11, 2024, stating that submissions require a single 6.5- or 6.9-inch iPhone screenshot and a single 13-inch iPad screenshot. The exact required classes and accepted dimensions are in Apple’s screenshot specifications.
Which iPhone screenshot dimensions are accepted?
The following are Apple’s accepted portrait pixel dimensions by display class. For landscape images, reverse the width and height. Some classes have additional status-bar or orientation variants, so use Apple’s full specification when preparing those assets.

The 6.9-inch class includes multiple Apple phone generations, including iPhone Air and listed Pro Max and Plus models. Because the device-to-class mapping can change as products launch, confirm the model mapping in Apple’s current table rather than assuming one resolution covers every phone.
Which iPad screenshot dimensions are accepted?
For an app that runs on iPad, the required class is 13-inch. Apple lists 2064 × 2752 and 2048 × 2732 pixels in portrait; landscape uses the reversed dimensions. The accepted table also includes 12.9-inch, 11-inch, 10.5-inch, and 9.7-inch classes.

There isn’t one generic iPad screenshot resolution. For example, Apple’s 11-inch class includes these portrait dimensions, each with a reversed landscape counterpart:
- 1488 × 2266
- 1668 × 2420
- 1668 × 2388
- 1640 × 2360
Apple documents scaling for missing smaller-class images: 13-inch images can scale to 12.9- and 11-inch groups; 12.9-inch images can scale to 10.5-inch; and 10.5-inch images can scale to 9.7-inch. Check Apple’s iPad size reference for device groupings and exact orientations.

Are older iPhone and iPad screenshot sizes still accepted?
Yes. The requirement to submit screenshots for every supported display size is gone, but the older sizes themselves have not all disappeared from Apple’s accepted-size reference. Apple still lists iPhone classes from 3.5-inch through 6.5-inch, along with several smaller iPad classes. “Accepted” means an image can still be submitted for that class; it does not mean that class is required.
What file rules apply to screenshots?
- Submit one to ten screenshots per supported display and localization set.
- Use JPEG, JPG, or PNG files.
- Images must not contain an alpha channel or transparency.
These file requirements are listed in Apple’s screenshot specifications.

How do you upload or update screenshots?
- In App Store Connect, open the app record and go to the platform section for the screenshots you want to manage.
- Upload the screenshots for the required display class and any optional classes, orientations, or localizations you need.
- If the interface is the same across sizes and localizations, Apple says you can provide the highest required resolution and have it scaled down automatically. Add custom device-size or localization images in Media Manager when you need specific versions.
- To change screenshots after an app version has been approved, create a new version; Apple says approved-version screenshots can’t simply be updated in place.

What about iPhone Duo screenshot sizes?
Apple’s current reference publishes iPhone Duo outer-display dimensions of 1398 × 2034 and 2034 × 1398, and inner-display dimensions of 2007 × 2853 and 2853 × 2007 pixels. However, Apple says App Store Connect upload support will arrive later in 2026. Treat these as published specifications with upload support pending as of October 4, 2026—not as dimensions you can already submit.
