The Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 and Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 are close on the available benchmark comparisons, not clear winners in every category. Qualcomm lists both at 4 nm and up to 2.4 GHz. The 6s Gen 4 has higher aggregate and multi-core scores in the cited comparisons, while the 7s Gen 2 edges ahead in single-core. Those results come from different databases and device samples, not a controlled test of two otherwise identical phones.

Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 vs Snapdragon 7s Gen 2: key specifications

Qualcomm’s product information is the best source for each platform’s published feature set. Some detailed CPU and GPU descriptions below come from secondary sources rather than Qualcomm’s product pages.

Specification Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 Snapdragon 7s Gen 2
Process 4 nm, according to Qualcomm’s catalog 4 nm, according to Qualcomm’s product page
CPU peak clock Up to 2.4 GHz, Qualcomm catalog Kryo CPU up to 2.4 GHz, Qualcomm product page
Detailed CPU arrangement Four Cortex-A78 cores up to 2.4 GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores up to 1.8 GHz, per Notebookcheck Four Cortex-A78 cores up to 2.4 GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores up to 1.95 GHz, per NanoReview
GPU Adreno 710, per Notebookcheck Adreno GPU; NanoReview identifies it as Adreno 710
Connectivity and charging Qualcomm’s catalog confirms a 5G modem, Quick Charge 4+ and Spectra ISP; detailed radio specifications are not stated in that catalog entry Qualcomm lists an X62 5G modem, peak download speed up to 2.9 Gbps, Wi-Fi 6E support and Quick Charge 4+

A matching 4 nm label and the same peak CPU clock do not establish identical efficiency or performance. Qualcomm’s pages also do not specify a detailed GPU frequency in the cited product information. The phone maker determines how platform features are implemented, so chip-level support does not guarantee every handset offers the same radios, Wi-Fi configuration or charging behavior.

NanoReview’s AnTuTu 11 comparison lists 64 tests for the 7s Gen 2 and 10 for the 6s Gen 4; its Geekbench 6 multi-core comparison lists 33 and 7, respectively. 91mobiles reports its figures as device results, and its 6s Gen 4 product page labels 889,090 the highest score recorded by a device using that chipset. These are publisher-reported figures, not independent population statistics. Scores can vary with handset, software, benchmark version, test conditions and the date a database is updated.

Which chipset performs better?

On the cited results, the 6s Gen 4 has the advantage in aggregate benchmark scores and multi-core comparisons. The 7s Gen 2 is slightly ahead in single-core results in both publishers’ data. The margins do not support calling either chip a universal winner: the databases use different samples and testing bases, and their absolute scores differ.

Benchmark scores are not a substitute for a matched-phone test. Cooling, power limits, memory configuration, software, battery and display all affect how a finished phone behaves. The cited figures do not establish comparative sustained performance or gaming frame rates under controlled conditions.

What the differences mean when choosing a phone

Everyday apps and multitasking

For browsing, messaging and everyday multitasking, compare reviews of the exact phone rather than choosing on the chipset name alone. Pay attention to memory and storage configuration, observed responsiveness, thermal behavior, battery endurance and the manufacturer’s software-support policy.

Gaming and sustained workloads

Look for testing of the exact handset and game, including frame rate over time and device temperature. The available comparisons do not provide a controlled, matched-device gaming test, so they cannot establish which phone will sustain higher frame rates.

Mobile networks and charging

Check the exact phone’s supported radio bands and carrier certification for your region. A modem’s peak capability does not establish that a handset supports every local band or carrier feature. Qualcomm says Quick Charge is designed to increase a device’s battery charge by up to 50% in 5 minutes, but says actual results may vary depending on device design; that statement is vendor guidance, not a guarantee for every phone.

Verdict

The Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 has a modest edge in the cited aggregate and multi-core scores, while single-core results are essentially tied and slightly favor the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2. For a purchase, the exact handset’s sustained performance, cooling, memory, battery, software support and regional network compatibility matter more than treating either chip’s benchmark lead as decisive.
