Google said Android security patch level 2025-03-05 or later addresses every issue in that bulletin. Whether your device has that patch depends on its manufacturer and update rollout.
Which Android vulnerabilities did Google flag?
In its bulletin published March 3, 2025, and updated March 20, Google wrote: “There are indications that the following may be under limited, targeted exploitation.” It named these two vulnerabilities:

SecurityWeek reported that the March update addressed more than 40 Android vulnerabilities. Google’s bulletin provides the detailed component and patch-level entries, including issues addressed through Android security patches and Google Play system updates.
What is known about the exploitation?
Google’s wording is cautious: it reported indications of possible limited, targeted exploitation. The bulletin does not identify an attacker, victims, a country, a campaign, the number of affected devices, or an attack chain. SecurityWeek also reported that Google did not provide further details about the observed attacks. The public information therefore does not establish broad exploitation or identify who was responsible.

Amnesty International Security Lab separately reported that Cellebrite forensic tools were used to target a Serbian student activist’s Android phone and discussed CVE-2024-50302. The available reporting does not establish that Amnesty’s reported incident was the same event or campaign as the exploitation mentioned in Google’s March bulletin.
Does the March update fix both vulnerabilities?
Google stated that Android security patch levels of 2025-03-05 or later address all issues in the March bulletin. The date is a patch-level threshold, not a promise that every Android phone received an update on that day. Manufacturers and carriers determine availability and rollout for their supported devices.

The bulletin also includes a Google Play system update entry for Documents UI and CVE-2024-43093. That entry is distinct from the device’s Android security patch level: check the system security patch level as well as any available Google Play system update rather than assuming one label represents the other.
How to check your Android security patch level
Menu names vary by manufacturer and Android version. On many devices, the path is Settings > About phone > Android version. Look for “Android security update” or “Android security patch level”; some devices show the information under Settings > Security & privacy instead.

- Open Settings and find the Android version or security information page.
- Read the displayed Android security patch level. A date of 2025-03-05 or later meets the threshold Google gave for the March 2025 bulletin.
- To check for an update, open Settings > System > Software updates or the manufacturer’s equivalent, then follow the on-screen instructions. Install available security updates and check again if the device prompts you to restart.
If your menus differ, use your phone maker’s official support instructions. A missing update option does not by itself establish whether the device is unsupported; update timing and support vary by model, manufacturer and carrier.

Google encourages users to update to the latest Android version available for their device. It also says Android protections and Google Play Protect reduce the likelihood that vulnerabilities can be successfully exploited. Play Protect is enabled by default on devices with Google Mobile Services and is particularly relevant if you install apps from outside Google Play. These protections add defense in depth; they do not replace installing the device’s system security update.
