If AirPods Pro 3 won’t connect, charge, or last as long as expected, start with the device’s Bluetooth and charge status, then try the model-specific pairing or charging steps below. AirPods Pro 3 uses a double-tap gesture on the front of its case for pairing and resetting—not the rear setup button found on older AirPods. Reset only after simpler checks, because it clears custom AirPods settings.
Why won’t my AirPods Pro 3 connect?
Check the basics first: update the iPhone, iPad, or Mac you’re using, confirm Bluetooth is on, and make sure both earbuds are seated in the case and charging. Also check that AirPods Pro 3 is selected in the device’s audio output list and that the volume is up. Apple’s connection troubleshooting steps include these checks.
If the earbuds still do not appear or connect, close the case lid for 15 seconds, then open it. Double-tap the front of the case until its status light flashes white. Hold the open case near your device and follow the pairing prompt. This is the AirPods Pro 3 procedure; do not look for a setup button on the back of the case.
How to reset AirPods Pro 3 and pair again
Try a reset if the connection checks and fresh pairing attempt do not help. A reset clears custom AirPods settings, so you may need to set those preferences again.

- Put both AirPods in the case, close the lid, and wait 30 seconds.
- If needed, open Bluetooth settings on the paired iPhone or iPad and choose the option to forget AirPods Pro 3.
- Open the case lid. When the status light is on, double-tap the front of the case.
- When the light flashes white, double-tap the front again. When it flashes faster, double-tap a third time.
- Wait for the status light to flash amber and then white. Hold the open case near the device and follow the pairing prompt.
Apple’s AirPods Pro 3 reset instructions use the case’s front surface for all three double-taps.
Why aren’t my AirPods Pro 3 charging?
First rule out a power or connection issue before assuming the case or earbuds have failed. Put both AirPods in the case, close the lid, connect the case to power, and leave it charging for at least 15 minutes. Check that the cable is firmly connected to the case and power adapter, and that the adapter is plugged into a working outlet. If possible, test with a known-working cable and power source.

- Check the charge status on your Apple device or on the case.
- If using a wireless charger and the case does not respond, reposition the case on the charging surface.
- Inspect the case charging port for debris. Follow Apple’s cleaning directions; avoid adding liquids or using tools Apple does not specify.
AirPods Pro 3’s case supports USB-C, MagSafe, Apple Watch chargers, and Qi-certified chargers. Changing charging methods can help identify a power or alignment problem, but it does not repair a defective battery or case. Apple’s charging guidance recommends checking the power connection and allowing time for charging.
Why does AirPods Pro 3 stop charging before 100%?
A charge below 100% may be due to Optimised Charge Limit rather than a fault. The feature learns your daily usage and can limit charging to help support battery lifespan, while allowing a full charge when appropriate. To request a full charge, wear and connect the AirPods to an iPhone or iPad, open AirPods settings, tap Battery, and turn off Optimised Charge Limit for that day or entirely. This setting changes charging behavior; it is not, by itself, evidence of battery damage. See Apple’s battery charging feature information.

How long should AirPods Pro 3 battery last?
Apple publishes these maximum listening estimates for AirPods Pro 3. They are “up to” figures from Apple’s specified testing, not a promise of runtime in every situation.

Apple’s specifications identify testing in July and August 2025 using preproduction AirPods Pro 3 paired with a preproduction iPhone 17 Pro and prerelease software. Apple cautions that battery life depends on device settings, environment, usage, and other factors. When to contact Apple for service
If connection or charging problems continue after these steps, or battery capacity appears degraded, arrange an inspection with Apple or an authorised service provider. Apple offers in-person and mail-in service, but available options depend on location and parts availability. An inspection is needed for a personalised out-of-warranty estimate.
Apple says it will replace the battery for no extra charge if capacity drops below 80% when the repair falls within applicable AppleCare or service coverage terms.
