What makes a game feel like Cyberpunk 2077?
CD PROJEKT RED describes Cyberpunk 2077 as an open-world action-adventure RPG set in Night City. Its protagonist is a mercenary caught up in a fight for survival, according to the studio’s game catalog. Those ingredients provide a useful starting point, but they do not make every open-world RPG mechanically similar.
Before choosing an alternative, identify the parts you want to carry over:
- Setting: futuristic science fiction, contemporary surroundings, or fantasy.
- Perspective: first-person or third-person play.
- Role-playing: how much freedom you want in shaping a character and approaching situations.
- Exploration: whether discovering a large world is central to your enjoyment.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the clearest starting point
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the most straightforward recommendation if you want another open-world RPG from CD PROJEKT RED. The major change is its world: instead of a futuristic city, it takes you into dark fantasy. Choose it if you are willing to trade Night City’s science-fiction setting for a fantasy adventure and want to stay with the studio’s open-world RPG work.
The official game page also describes remastered visual, performance, and gameplay upgrades. That establishes the existence of those updates, not that a particular platform edition or retailer listing is currently available; check the platform and edition that interest you.
