On April 7, 2010, EDN reported that Altera Corp. and five other companies joined the Open Core Protocol International Partnership (OCP-IP). OCP-IP said the additions reflected the value of standard interfaces for intellectual property (IP) and the wider industry’s acceptance of OCP; the report did not quantify adoption or state Altera’s individual reason for joining.
Which companies joined OCP-IP?
Alongside Altera, the companies named in EDN’s April 7, 2010 report were Digitite, Global Unichip, Innotech, PDTi and Xtrillion. The story describes a partnership-membership announcement, not a product release. EDN’s report
What is the Open Core Protocol?
OCP is an interface protocol used in system-on-chip (SoC) designs. Its technical features are described in the OCP 2.2 Datasheet. That document provides protocol background; it does not establish the 2010 membership event or current membership status.
Why did Altera join?
EDN reported OCP-IP’s broader rationale: standard interfaces for IP were valuable, and the new members illustrated wider industry acceptance of OCP. This was the partnership’s characterization, not a measured adoption result. The report does not give a reason specific to Altera, so it does not establish why the company itself joined.

What benefits did members receive?
EDN said OCP-IP members received free training and support, software tools and documentation at the time of the report. Those are historical benefits; the article does not establish whether they remain available or what current terms might be.
Does this mean these companies are members today?
No current membership conclusion follows from a 2010 announcement. The report establishes who joined then, but does not verify whether Altera or the other companies remain members, or what the partnership’s present name or governance may be.
