This comparison pairs the Redmi Note 15 5G—not the separate 4G model—with the phone Xiaomi’s POCO Global site calls the POCO X8. Retailers may list it as POCO X8 5G. On the published specifications, POCO has the larger, sharper display and more battery capacity, while Redmi is lighter and lists an ultrawide rear camera and microSD expansion. Neither spec sheet establishes which phone takes better photos, runs faster, or lasts longer in real use.

What the differences mean in everyday use
Screen size and resolution
The POCO’s 6.83-inch, 1.5K panel is both larger and higher in resolution than Redmi’s 6.67-inch 2392 × 1080 display. Both manufacturers list refresh rates up to 120Hz. Choose based on whether you prefer more screen area and resolution or a smaller handset; these specifications alone do not establish differences in brightness, color accuracy, or outdoor visibility.

Camera hardware
Redmi lists a 108MP main camera and an 8MP ultrawide, giving it a dedicated option for wider scenes. POCO lists a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a 2MP depth camera. Megapixel counts and camera components do not prove which phone produces better photos or video. No controlled head-to-head camera test is established here.

Battery and charging
POCO lists an 8,340mAh typical-capacity battery, 67W charging and wired reverse charging up to 22.5W. Redmi lists 5,520mAh typical capacity and 45W charging. POCO describes its battery as “Massive 8340mAh battery with 67W HyperCharge”; that is the manufacturer’s product wording, not an independent runtime result. Capacity and charging rates do not establish how long either phone lasts between charges or how quickly it charges in a particular situation.
Size and storage flexibility
Redmi weighs 178g, compared with 223g for POCO, and is narrower and thinner on the published dimensions. Redmi also lists more high-capacity storage configurations and microSD support up to 1TB. Its microSD slot is hybrid: using a card may mean giving up the second SIM position. POCO’s cited Global page does not list microSD expansion.

India price difference: treat the listing as a snapshot
A Gadgets Now India comparison page retrieved in 2026 displayed ₹29,999 for POCO X8 and ₹28,999 for Redmi Note 15, a displayed difference of ₹1,000. Those are listing prices, not guaranteed current prices or a confirmed like-for-like comparison: the page does not clearly establish matching memory/storage configurations and offer conditions. See the Gadgets Now comparison listing and verify checkout prices for the same RAM and storage tier before deciding.

The prices are not consistent across the available reporting. Android Central reported Redmi Note 15 India launch prices of ₹22,999 for 8/128GB and ₹24,999 for 8/256GB; those are launch-price figures, not a claim about today’s selling price. The available sources do not resolve whether the difference from the comparison page reflects timing, configuration, offers, or listing methodology. Do not combine the figures into a single current price. Android Central’s Redmi Note 15 review and launch pricing provides that separate context.

Which one should you buy?
Choose POCO X8 if
- You want the larger, higher-resolution display on the published specifications.
- You value the larger listed battery capacity, higher wired charging rate, or wired reverse charging.
- You are comfortable with a wider, thicker and heavier phone.
Choose Redmi Note 15 5G if
- You want the lighter, narrower option according to the published dimensions.
- You want a listed ultrawide rear camera.
- You need microSD expansion or a Global-listed configuration with more storage capacity.
These are hardware-based trade-offs, not a performance ranking. The different processors—Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 and Snapdragon 6s Gen 4—do not establish which phone is faster without comparable benchmark or real-use testing. Likewise, the camera and battery specifications do not establish image quality or runtime.
Quick Recap
Check these details before buying in India
- Match the variant: compare the same RAM and storage tier, and confirm that the configuration shown on a Global spec page is actually available from the Indian seller.
- Confirm network compatibility: Xiaomi says Redmi network-band support depends on region and operator; check the precise Indian model with your carrier. Regional packages and specifications can vary for both phones.
- Check the box for a charger: both cited Global manufacturer pages say a power adapter is not included. Xiaomi recommends a compatible 45W PD adapter or its own 45W adapter for Redmi; POCO recommends a compatible 67W PD adapter or official Xiaomi 67W adapter. Confirm the local box contents before buying an accessory.
- Understand the Redmi SIM trade-off: the Global specification page describes a hybrid second SIM/microSD slot. A memory card may use the position otherwise available for a second SIM.
- Do not treat the Redmi IP rating as waterproofing: Xiaomi lists IP66 and says certified resistance applies under specific laboratory conditions; resistance may decline with wear or damage, and liquid damage outside test conditions may not be covered.
- Verify software and support claims locally: the comparison listing reports Android versions and update periods for both phones, but the cited manufacturer pages do not establish those commitments consistently. Check the exact regional model’s current software and support terms rather than relying on the comparison listing.
