The headline refers to the Alienware AW3423DWF, a 34.1-inch curved QD-OLED gaming monitor. HotHardware reported on January 17, 2026, that it was $499.99 at Amazon—28% off, or $200 below the reference price—and said Dell had a matching clearance offer. Those are historical deal reports, not confirmation of a price or stock available today.

Which Alienware monitor was on sale?

It was the AW3423DWF. The model name matters: Alienware’s later AW3425DW and AW3426DW are different monitors with higher stated refresh rates. Specs for those newer models should not be attributed to the AW3423DWF.

HotHardware’s January 17, 2026 deal report identified the AW3423DWF at $499.99 at Amazon, called it 28% off, and described the savings as $200. The article also said Dell offered the same price on clearance. PCWorld separately reported a $500 Amazon offer on February 16, 2026, also describing it as 28% off. These dated reports corroborate a past offer; they do not establish the monitor’s current price or availability.

What does the AW3423DWF offer?

Picture and refresh rate

HotHardware describes a 34.1-inch QD-OLED panel with a 3440×1440 resolution, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, and VESA DisplayHDR 400 True Black certification. It reports refresh rates of up to 165Hz over DisplayPort and 100Hz over HDMI, so the connection used affects the maximum refresh rate.

PCWorld describes the curved panel as 1800R and reports a 165Hz refresh rate and 0.1ms response time. It also mentions AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and VESA AdaptiveSync. These are source-reported specifications, not results from a controlled comparison with the newer Alienware models.

What the numbers mean for choosing

The 3440×1440 resolution is an ultrawide format, while 165Hz is the reported maximum over DisplayPort. Check the inputs and refresh rate you plan to use when comparing monitors; a headline refresh figure does not necessarily apply to every connection. HDR certification and connectivity are also worth comparing alongside resolution, refresh rate, warranty, and the price actually offered by a retailer.

How does it compare with newer Alienware models?

The following is a specification comparison from the cited coverage, not a head-to-head test. Confirm the exact model and current listing before buying.

Model Resolution Refresh rate Other cited details
AW3423DWF 3440×1440 165Hz over DisplayPort; 100Hz over HDMI, per HotHardware 34.1-inch QD-OLED; DisplayHDR 400 True Black certification, per HotHardware; 1800R curve and 0.1ms response time, per PCWorld
AW3425DW 3440×1440 240Hz 0.03ms response time and 1800R curve, per Windows Central
AW3426DW 3440×1440 280Hz 0.03ms response time and DisplayHDR True Black 500, per PC Gamer; PC Gamer also notes it lacks USB-C

The higher refresh rates are the clearest listed distinction between the older model and its successors. If competitive gaming is your priority, compare the newer models’ refresh rates with the AW3423DWF’s reported connection-specific limits. For laptop or multi-device use, check the actual port selection: PC Gamer notes that the AW3426DW has no USB-C. PC Gamer also identifies the MSI MPG 341CQR X36 as an alternative with 360Hz, USB-C, and KVM, features that may suit buyers prioritizing speed or device flexibility.

Is the 28% deal still available?

The cited reports establish that the offer was reported in January and February 2026; they do not verify an offer on October 4, 2026. Check the live retailer listing for the AW3423DWF specifically, along with seller, stock, returns, and warranty terms. A listing for AW3425DW or AW3426DW is not the same deal.

HotHardware said Amazon’s $499.99 price represented a $200 discount against $899.99 suggested pricing. It also characterized the monitor’s 2025 street price as around $650 for much of that year. Those are HotHardware’s descriptions of the offer and price history, not an independently verified price-history dataset.
