There is no single best email marketing platform for every business, and the available evidence does not establish an independent, like-for-like test of all 17 tools. A practical shortlist starts with the job you need done: send standard campaigns, run ecommerce lifecycle flows, build advanced automation, connect marketing to a CRM, or combine email with creator-focused features. Treat vendor comparisons as useful starting points, then verify each capability and price against the plan you would actually buy.

What the 2026 comparisons can—and cannot—tell you

Two vendor-authored guides provide much of the current comparison evidence. ActiveCampaign’s guide, published March 24, 2026, compares eight platforms and says its feature and price information was accurate as of March 2026. GetResponse’s guide, updated June 19, 2026, compares nine. Their product descriptions and recommendations reflect the publishers’ perspectives; they are not neutral tests.

The title’s “tested and compared” wording should not be read as proof that one independent team tested all 17 platforms under the same conditions. The available comparisons do not establish that. Nor do they support a current, normalized price ranking or an independently verified deliverability leaderboard across the full group.

Start with the work your email platform must do

Use the categories below to create a shortlist, not to declare a winner. Both comparison guides offer vendor-published fit descriptions, which you should validate against your own requirements and the vendors’ current plan pages.

Primary need Platforms highlighted in the guides What to verify before choosing
Newsletters and standard campaigns Mailchimp and Constant Contact are described by ActiveCampaign as simpler campaign options. Whether their campaign editor, forms, segmentation, testing, and reporting meet your needs—and which plan unlocks the features you require.
Ecommerce lifecycle marketing Klaviyo and Omnisend are positioned around ecommerce triggers and revenue-linked workflows by ActiveCampaign; GetResponse also describes both as ecommerce-focused. Store integrations, the event data available to flows, product blocks, abandoned-cart and post-purchase automation, SMS charges, and reporting.
Advanced automation and CRM-connected journeys ActiveCampaign is described as automation-first by its own guide and as a strong advanced-automation option by GetResponse. Branching depth, CRM requirements, predictive features, setup effort, and the plan needed for each capability.
CRM-led marketing HubSpot is characterized by ActiveCampaign as CRM-driven. The exact HubSpot package and tier needed: the guide says advanced automation depends on higher tiers, so check total cost for your intended setup.
Transactional email or send-volume pricing ActiveCampaign says Brevo supports marketing and transactional email; GetResponse presents it as a send-volume pricing and multichannel option. Current sending limits, what transactional service includes, and whether required channels or features cost extra.
Creators and newsletter businesses GetResponse labels Kit creator-focused and says GetResponse may suit creators seeking email alongside broader monetization functions. Newsletter publishing and monetization features, audience-management needs, and whether the relevant tools are included in the plan.

Compare automation by capability, not by label

“Automation” can mean anything from a basic welcome message to a branched journey that responds to behavioral data across channels. ActiveCampaign’s comparison cautions that vendors’ shared feature labels do not reveal equivalent depth. Compare the actual workflow you need to build, rather than checking whether a feature named “automation” appears on a plan page.

  • Triggers: Can a workflow start from a signup, purchase, browsing or other behavioral event, or a CRM change you care about?
  • Branching: Can it split by customer attributes, activity, or purchase history, and can you route people back into a journey appropriately?
  • Channels: Does the flow support the channels you need, and are those channels included or charged separately?
  • Data: Can the platform access the store, CRM, or event data the journey depends on?
  • Plan access: Is the exact trigger, branching feature, or integration available at the tier you are pricing?
  • Operations: How much setup and maintenance will the workflow require, and can your team troubleshoot it?

Build a like-for-like comparison before you price plans

Write down one realistic scenario and use it for every candidate. Include your current marketable contact count, expected list growth, monthly campaign volume, transactional volume if applicable, required automations and integrations, channels, and number of team members who need access. This prevents a low advertised starting price from dominating a comparison that does not match your real usage.

  1. Match the audience size. Price the contact tier that fits your current list and the likely list size you will reach—not only the smallest entry tier.
  2. Match the sending pattern. Account for campaign frequency and transactional sends separately where relevant. Check send caps and any overage or upgrade conditions with the vendor.
  3. Match the feature set. List the required editor, templates, forms, landing pages, segmentation, testing, automation, ecommerce, CRM, and reporting capabilities; note the tier that provides each.
  4. Include channel and account costs. Record SMS or push availability and charges, add-ons, billing period, support access, and whether branding can be removed on the selected plan.
  5. Model the next audience tier. Compare the price and limits at a plausible future list size so you can see when costs or plan requirements change.
  6. Estimate the changeover. Identify the data, consent records, integrations, templates, and workflows you would need to transfer or rebuild. GetResponse lists migration effort among its selection factors; ActiveCampaign warns that switching can take time and may involve rebuilt workflows or migration fees, a claim from a competing vendor that should be checked with the provider.

Why a universal price table would mislead

The available evidence does not establish a complete, normalized price table for all 17 tools. GetResponse’s June 19, 2026 guide displays vendor-published starting prices and audience assumptions for nine platforms, but those figures are not a like-for-like value comparison and may change. Capterra’s 2026 pricing guide search extract describes a comparison of nine tools using public vendor data, but the page was not available in a readable form for verification. Do not treat either source as a universal current price list.

Before committing, confirm the current regional price, billing period, contact and send limits, included channels, feature tier, and add-ons directly with the vendor. Compare the total for your scenario, not just the headline monthly figure.

How to interpret deliverability and performance claims

Do not rank all 17 platforms by deliverability based on the available evidence. ActiveCampaign’s March 2026 guide reports that EmailToolTester’s latest deliverability tests scored ActiveCampaign at 94.2%, in first place among 15 tools tested. The underlying test date and methodology are not established here, and the claim is reported by a vendor. It is not an independently verified comparison of all 17 services or a guarantee of inbox placement for your own mail.

Likewise, a vendor’s ROI or customer-survey figures should be read with its attribution and methodology in view, not treated as a universal expected result. Your own sending practices, list consent and quality, content, authentication, and recipient response also matter; vendor comparison claims alone cannot predict your outcome.

Make the final choice with a short pilot

After narrowing the field, validate the finalists using the same small, representative workflow: import or connect a test audience, create a campaign, build one required automation, and check the reports and team permissions you will rely on. Confirm plan access and pricing before investing in migration. For a useful comparison, record what was available at each tier and what required extra setup or charges, rather than relying on feature names alone.
