Intellivision Sprint is Atari’s modern revival of the classic Intellivision console. It pairs HDMI output and two wireless, rechargeable controllers with 45 built-in games. Atari’s product page lists its release as December 2025, but that date does not establish current stock or pricing.
What is the Intellivision Sprint?
The Sprint is a new console based on the Intellivision, the home gaming system Mattel Electronics first released in 1979. Atari announced the Sprint as a collaboration with PLAION REPLAI. Its product page describes a plug-in system with a built-in game collection and modern connections, rather than a machine advertised as playing original cartridges.
Atari said the Intellivision platform sold an estimated 5 million units through 1990. That is Atari’s estimate, reported in its May 2024 announcement, not an independently verified sales audit. Atari’s acquisition announcement also says the acquired portfolio includes the Intellivision trademarks and rights to more than 200 titles.
What games come with the Sprint?
The product page lists 45 built-in games spanning sports, strategy, and arcade-style play. Examples include Baseball, Chip Shot: Super Pro Golf, and Super Pro Football for sports; B-17 Bomber, Sea Battle, and Utopia for strategy; and Astrosmash, Shark! Shark!, and Star Strike for arcade action. It also highlights Boulder Dash and Thin Ice.

How does it connect to modern TVs, and what controllers does it use?
The Sprint has HDMI output for connecting to modern TVs and monitors. It comes with two wireless controllers based on the original disc-style design. Atari’s product page says they recharge by docking them into the console and that overlays are included for every game.
The product page lists USB-A for two uses: connecting original Intellivision II controllers with an adapter, and playing additional games sold separately. It does not specify the complete expansion method or the compatibility of those additional games. It also does not say that original cartridges work, so cartridge support should not be assumed.
What comes in the box?
According to the product page, the package includes:
- Intellivision Sprint console
- Two wireless controllers
- 92 one-sided controller overlays
- 45 built-in games
- USB power adapter
- HDMI cable
The page describes the power item as a “USB Power Adapter” and explicitly notes that an AC adapter is not included. It does not provide a compatible wall adapter specification, so check manufacturer guidance before choosing one.

That arrangement is distinct from the Sprint and does not establish the Sprint’s compatibility with Amico games.

The Sprint product page lists a December 2025 release. Atari’s half-year results, issued December 23, 2025, list the launch of pre-orders among post-closing events. Those sources establish launch chronology, not present availability, price, or regional sales status. Check a current retailer or Atari channel for stock and price in your region.
Why does Atari own the Intellivision brand?
On May 23, 2024, Atari announced that it had acquired the Intellivision brand and certain games from Intellivision Entertainment LLC. Atari said the purchase included Intellivision trademarks and rights to more than 200 titles, and that it planned to expand distribution of legacy games, potentially create new ones, and explore licensing opportunities. The announcement also says Intellivision Entertainment LLC retained a license to distribute new versions of Intellivision games on Amico.
The Sprint’s product page credits Atari and PLAION REPLAI with the collaboration. Atari’s acquisition announcement quotes Digital Eclipse studio head Mike Mika describing the reunion as ending “the longest-running console war in history”; that is his characterization, not an independently established historical ranking.
