Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Amazon announced a U.S. beta of AI-generated Video Recaps for selected English-language Prime Original series on November 19, 2025. The planned feature combined show clips, dialogue, music and sound effects with AI narration to help viewers refresh their memory before a new season. Its present availability is uncertain: Engadget reported on December 12, 2025 that the recaps it checked had disappeared after errors were spotted in a recap of Fallout.
What Amazon announced
Video Recaps were intended to give returning viewers a visual reminder of a series’ story before they started its next season. Amazon said the beta would cover select English-language Prime Original series in the United States, beginning on living-room devices. The announcement did not promise access for every show, every Prime Video customer, or every device.
Amazon described a system that analyzes key plot points and character arcs, selects clips, and combines them with dialogue snippets, music and sound effects. An AI-generated voiceover ties the material together. Amazon said the recap would appear on a supported series’ detail page when a viewer navigated to the next season. Amazon’s announcement did not provide measured accuracy, adoption or performance figures.
How Video Recaps compare with X-Ray Recaps
Video Recaps were presented as a visual counterpart to Amazon’s earlier text-based X-Ray Recaps. The distinction is the format, not evidence that either feature is available on every title or device today.

What happened after the announcement
On December 12, 2025, Engadget reported that viewers had found factual errors in the Fallout recap and that the video recaps it checked were no longer appearing on the show pages. That report describes what Engadget observed; it is not an official explanation from Amazon for the disappearance. Engadget’s report did not establish whether Amazon would bring the feature back. The available sources do not confirm its status after that date, so the original beta announcement should not be treated as proof that Video Recaps are currently available.
Where Fire TV fits
Amazon said the beta would start on living-room devices. TechRadar cited Fire TV as an example of a living-room device for watching Prime Video on a television. A Fire TV device is a general streaming option, not a dedicated recap accessory, and owning one does not establish access to Video Recaps. TechRadar’s contemporaneous coverage provided device context, not confirmation of present availability.
