Razer’s Laptop Cooling Pad is a 14–18-inch laptop cooling accessory announced at RazerCon 2024. Its Smart Cooling mode adjusts fan speed based on laptop temperature, while a pressure chamber and magnetic memory-foam seals channel air through the laptop. Razer says its 2024 testing found CPU and GPU temperatures could fall by up to 18% in some cases; that is a conditional company-reported result, not a guaranteed or independently verified outcome.
What Razer’s Laptop Cooling Pad does
Razer introduced the pad on September 28, 2024, at RazerCon. It combines a 140 mm high-velocity fan with an airtight pressure chamber and magnetic memory-foam seals. The seals are intended to help direct airflow through a laptop rather than simply blow air toward its underside.
Razer calls its temperature-responsive fan control Smart Cooling. The pad also offers physical low, medium, high and smart fan settings. For software control, Razer lists automatic mode, custom fan curves, fan-speed adjustment and lighting controls through Synapse 4. Razer’s US product page provides the current listed specifications.
Does the “up to 18%” cooling claim mean it will run that much cooler?
No. Razer’s September 2024 announcement said the fan and seals could reduce CPU and GPU temperatures by up to 18% “in some cases.” Razer identifies the results as testing by its technical team in 2024 and says outcomes vary with environmental conditions, laptop configuration and usage. The figure is therefore a best-case company claim, not a typical result, a guarantee for every laptop, or an independent benchmark. Read Razer’s announcement.

Razer’s 14–18-inch range describes supported screen sizes, not a guarantee that every laptop in that range will physically fit or line up with the seals. Before buying, compare your laptop’s actual footprint with the pad’s dimensions and check where its bottom air intakes and exhaust vents are. A mismatch in chassis shape or vent placement may undermine the intended airflow path.
Does it work with non-Razer laptops?
Razer lists general compatibility with 14–18-inch laptops, so the cooling pad is not presented as Blade-only hardware. However, the screen-size range alone does not confirm fit for a specific non-Razer model. Check its dimensions and underside ventilation. Razer’s Synapse controls and the separate HyperBoost feature have their own software and model requirements.

What HyperBoost adds—and who can use it
On January 7, 2025, Razer announced HyperBoost as a complimentary update for eligible Razer Blade owners using the Laptop Cooling Pad. Razer says HyperBoost raises system power limits on select Blade models and is managed through Synapse. It is not a general feature for all laptops, nor does the announcement establish support for every Blade. Razer’s HyperBoost announcement limits availability to select compatible Blade models.
