The realme 12+ 5G makes a strong launch-era case on design, display, smooth everyday performance, and battery life, but its secondary cameras and pre-installed apps are weaker points. Whether it is worth buying now depends on its current price, configuration, and availability: the ₹20,999 starting price reported in India in March 2024 is historical, not a current offer.
What the realme 12+ 5G offers
realme India lists a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chipset. The rear camera system combines a 50MP Sony LYT-600 main camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS), an 8MP ultrawide, and a 2MP macro camera. The official listing specifies 4K video recording at 30 frames per second. See realme India’s specifications.
For power, realme specifies a 5,000mAh typical-capacity battery and 67W charging. The company calls it a “5000mAh (typ) Massive Battery”; that is manufacturer wording, not a measured battery-life result. The listed package contents include a charging adapter, protective case, and screen-protect film.
Pros and cons at a glance
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Striking design, according to 91mobiles’ review | Ultrawide and macro cameras were judged weaker than the main camera by 91mobiles |
| Good-looking display, as assessed in launch-era reviews | Pre-installed apps were a drawback noted by 91mobiles |
| Smooth performance in 91mobiles’ assessment | No telephoto camera appears in the official rear-camera specification |
| Battery life praised by 91mobiles and India Today reviewers | Current price, stock, and software-support status are not established here |
These are attributed review impressions, not a fresh independent test. Ashish Kumar’s 91mobiles review, published 6 March 2024 and updated 20 March 2024, praised design, display, performance, and battery life while flagging the ultrawide and macro cameras and pre-installed apps. An India Today review published 7 March 2024 also described the design positively and considered the battery reliable, while discussing display saturation and performance at the launch price. How the main features affect everyday use
Display and design
The listed AMOLED panel, FHD+ resolution, and 120Hz refresh rate give the phone a promising spec sheet for video, reading, and scrolling. Reviewers also praised the design and display, although India Today’s launch-era review discussed display saturation. Display quality is partly a matter of personal preference, so if possible, inspect the screen in person before buying.
Performance
The Dimensity 7050 is the specified chipset, and 91mobiles described performance as smooth in its review. That supports a positive general-use impression, but the available evidence does not establish a benchmark score or guarantee performance in a particular game, workload, or software version. Consider demanding gaming separately from routine browsing and apps.

Cameras
The 50MP OIS-equipped main camera is the most substantial part of the listed rear setup. The ultrawide adds a wider framing option and the macro camera is intended for close subjects, but 91mobiles judged both secondary cameras as areas for improvement. There is no telephoto camera in the official specification, so do not expect a dedicated optical-zoom lens. The stated 4K/30fps recording capability is a specification, not a claim about video quality in every condition.
Battery and charging
realme’s figures are 5,000mAh typical capacity and 67W charging; the package listing includes the adapter. 91mobiles and India Today reviewers praised battery life, but those launch-era observations are not a standardized runtime measurement and do not predict the condition of an individual used phone. Battery performance can also vary with settings and workload.

Software and included items
Pre-installed apps were among 91mobiles’ stated drawbacks. If you prefer a minimal setup, check which apps can be removed or disabled on the exact software version before purchase. The manufacturer-listed box contents include a case and screen-protect film as well as the charging adapter, so these are not listed as separate required purchases.
Is it worth buying now?
At launch, 91mobiles reported an India starting price of ₹20,999 in its March 2024 review. That figure is useful only as historical context; it should not be treated as today’s price or as a current value verdict. The phone has been on the market since 2024, and current pricing, stock, software support, and regional compatibility are not established by the available information.
Before deciding, compare the exact memory configuration and seller against current alternatives at the same price. Weigh main-camera quality and zoom options, display, chipset and gaming needs, storage, battery and charging, and the software experience. Contemporaneous comparisons discussed several of these differences, but they cannot determine which phone is the better buy in today’s market. See Gadgets 360’s launch-era review and comparison context.
- Consider it if its current local price is competitive and you value the display, design, main camera with OIS, and included fast charger.
- Look elsewhere if you need stronger ultrawide or macro results, a dedicated telephoto lens, or a cleaner pre-installed-app experience.
- Verify before ordering the live price, memory configuration, seller, local network-band compatibility, software-support information, and included box contents on the listing for your region.
Verdict
The realme 12+ 5G earned positive launch-era assessments for its design, display, smooth performance, and battery life, with secondary cameras and pre-installed apps as notable trade-offs. It is not possible to make a sound current value recommendation from its 2024 launch price alone. Judge it by today’s like-for-like price and the condition and support status of the exact unit you can buy.
