Choose wireless earbuds by checking three things against your own routine: whether the fit stays comfortable, whether the sound and listening controls suit you, and whether the exact model supports your devices and the features you need. Start with your phone and computer, then compare fit, sound, switching, calls, and activity requirements; no single feature makes a pair right for everyone.
Start with the devices you need to use
Write down each phone, tablet, or computer you expect to connect, including its operating system. Basic Bluetooth pairing and full feature support are different: Samsung says Galaxy Buds can work like other Bluetooth headphones with non-Samsung devices, but app access and advanced features can depend on the model and platform. Check the exact earbuds’ official compatibility information for each device rather than assuming that a successful Bluetooth connection means every feature will work.
If you want a particular Bluetooth audio codec, confirm that both the earbuds and the playback device support it. A codec is a method of encoding audio for Bluetooth transmission. Sony’s LinkBuds Fit help guide explains codec behavior for that specific model; codec support varies by product, and a codec label alone does not establish an audible improvement for every listener.
Choose a fit you can keep wearing
Ear shape and comfort preferences vary, so treat a short try-on as a starting point rather than proof that earbuds will feel good through a long listening session. Consider how long you wear them, whether you move around, and whether you need a sealed fit for isolation or prefer an open-fit design. A secure fit should not hurt or require constant adjustment.

Try the supplied eartip sizes and any retention pieces, such as wings or stability bands. Samsung’s setup guidance recommends selecting the eartip that fits best. Bose lists three eartip and stability-band sizes for its QuietComfort Earbuds—an example of fit details worth checking, not a guarantee that a particular design will suit every ear.
Match sound and noise controls to how you listen
Sound preference is personal. Compare the sound profile and whether the earbuds offer adjustable EQ, active noise cancellation (ANC), or an ambient mode that lets outside sound through. Think about where you listen: a quiet room, a commute, calls in noisy places, or a mix of settings. These use cases may make different controls more useful than a codec specification.

When comparing models, check whether the controls you care about are available on your devices and in the companion app, if one is required. Treat supported codecs as a compatibility check, not a stand-in for listening preference or a promise of better sound.
Check calls and switching between devices
If you regularly move between a computer and phone, look for multipoint support on the exact model. Sony describes multipoint as a way for some headphones or earbuds to connect to two Bluetooth devices at once. It is model-specific, so do not infer it from a brand or from ordinary Bluetooth pairing.

Also check call features and what happens when a call interrupts audio. Manufacturer specifications and support pages can clarify whether the model offers the behaviors you need and whether any features depend on a compatible device. Bose’s QuietComfort Earbuds product information, for example, lists multipoint and Bluetooth profiles; use the current listing for the precise model you are considering.
For exercise or outdoor use, verify water guidance
Do not treat “water-resistant” as synonymous with waterproof. Samsung cautions that moisture can affect operation and says its earbuds are not intended to be waterproof. For the specific earbuds you are considering, check the documented ingress rating and manufacturer care instructions, then match them to your activity. A rating or general water-resistance claim does not replace those instructions.

Compare options with the same checklist
When you have two or more candidates, compare each on the points that affect your routine rather than trying to reduce the choice to one “best” specification.

Choose whether you prefer an open design or a sealed in-ear fit. Try the included sizes and retention pieces, and reject a fit that hurts or needs repeated adjustment.

What the product examples can—and cannot—tell you
Manufacturer examples are useful for identifying details to inspect, not for establishing a universal recommendation. Samsung’s guidance illustrates eartip selection, Bluetooth setup, and cross-device use; its exact compatibility and app support depend on the earbuds model and connected device. Bose’s QuietComfort Earbuds page illustrates fit-piece sizes and multipoint. Sony’s LinkBuds Fit guide is a model-specific reference for codecs. Verify the current official information for the precise model, software version, and region you intend to use.
