Upgrade a weapon that suits you at the Brave Haven Blacksmith, reroll a mismatched buff, and use the Enchantsmith to apply and improve enchantments. There is no official, verified damage formula or universal best-weapon ranking, so compare weapons in the situations where you use them.
Why does my weapon damage feel low?
A weapon can feel weak even when its level or rarity looks impressive. Weapons trade off power, speed, reach, and attack patterns: a slower hit may deal more damage per strike, while a faster weapon can attack more often. Range and charge behavior also affect whether you connect reliably and how quickly you can deal damage in a real encounter.
There is another source of confusion: official materials describe weapon and equipment systems, but do not provide a complete damage formula. The official Minecraft Feedback category includes player requests to “re-add the ability to see stats like attack damage, speed and range” and to “Show weapon damage and equipment armor.” Those requests reflect uncertainty about stat visibility, but do not establish exactly what the live interface displays. Compare how weapons actually attack
Mojang describes weapons in terms of power, speed, and range. For example, a Powerbow hits harder when charged, while shortbows fire faster; longbows emphasize reach, and trickbows can ricochet. A single damage-looking number cannot capture all of those differences. The official Minecraft Dungeons II overview introduces these weapon styles.

- Power versus speed: Consider whether you prefer heavier individual hits or a faster attack cadence.
- Range: A weapon that lets you attack safely from farther away may work better in an encounter than one with a stronger close-range strike.
- Charge or combo behavior: Check whether the weapon needs charging or has a particular attack sequence, and whether you can use that pattern consistently.
- Build fit: Consider whether the weapon’s effects and your enchantments support the way you fight.
No official source establishes a definitive damage-per-second ranking for the current game build. Community reverse-engineering published in early October 2026 argues that weapon type, item power, and effects contribute to damage, but its author says the exact item-power formula is not established by the data tables. Treat that analysis as provisional comparison material, not as Mojang-confirmed mechanics or a source of exact in-game damage values: community analysis, “UPDATED – Hidden Item Stats with Weapons and Armour”.

Choose a weapon that suits the encounter
Try a weapon whose range and attack pattern match how you approach the fight. A slower, harder-hitting weapon is not automatically better if you miss its attacks or cannot use its charge behavior effectively.

Upgrade a keeper at the Brave Haven Blacksmith
Xbox Wire’s August 26, 2026 hands-on says the Blacksmith can upgrade owned equipment to the highest power level currently available to you. If a weapon’s handling and effects suit your build, upgrading it may let you keep using it rather than replacing it just because a stronger drop appeared. The source does not specify a universal upgrade cost or damage increase. Read Xbox Wire’s gamescom 2026 feature.

Reroll a buff that does not suit your build
The same Xbox Wire hands-on describes rerolling an equipment buff at the Blacksmith. Use that option to seek a buff better aligned with your weapon and play style; the available official material does not quantify how much damage a particular reroll adds.

Apply and improve useful enchantments
Mojang says books found during play go into a personal library and can be applied to a chosen gear slot at the Enchantsmith. Enchantments can also be upgraded over time. Choose effects that address the limitation you notice, then refine them as your build develops. Mojang’s gameplay-systems overview describes the library and Enchantsmith.

Check the combined effects on your equipped kit
Xbox Wire describes an Effects and Enchantments menu that consolidates effects from weapons, armor, and talismans. Review it when a change in performance surprises you, so you can see what the whole equipped loadout contributes rather than attributing every difference to the weapon alone.

Repeat encounters to build your options
Xbox Wire’s September 28, 2026 preview says repeatable encounters and dungeons offer opportunities to earn gear and Enchantment Books. It also describes Echo Shards as a resource for upgrading merchants, Blacksmiths, and equipment. The preview does not provide current drop rates, so use repeat runs to pursue more options rather than expecting a guaranteed specific item. See Xbox Wire’s world and encounters preview.
What the available evidence does—and does not—establish
Official descriptions establish that weapon styles differ, the Blacksmith can upgrade equipment and reroll a buff, enchantment books can be applied and improved, and the Effects and Enchantments menu summarizes effects across equipment. They do not establish a complete damage formula or a universal weapon ranking. If two weapons feel different, compare their behavior in the same kind of encounter and account for their effects and your other equipped gear rather than relying on an unofficial table as an exact damage readout.
