Stellantis and Infineon announced a planned collaboration on power architecture for Stellantis electric vehicles, combining semiconductor supply agreements with work toward a Joint Power Lab. The effort names three Infineon product families—PROFET smart power switches, CoolSiC silicon-carbide devices and AURIX microcontrollers—aimed at different layers of vehicle electrical and electronic systems. The companies described lower costs, better energy efficiency, improved driver experience and greater range as goals; they did not report measured gains or confirm production deployment.
What Stellantis and Infineon announced
On November 7, 2024, Stellantis N.V. and Infineon Technologies AG said they would work together on power architecture for Stellantis electric vehicles. Their announcement included supply and capacity agreements for Infineon PROFET smart power switches and CoolSiC silicon-carbide semiconductors. It also identified AURIX microcontrollers for the first generation of Stellantis’ STLA Brain zonal architecture. Infineon’s announcement and Stellantis’ announcement describe the companies’ plans, not a completed vehicle system.
The companies said they were working toward implementing a Joint Power Lab to define a scalable, intelligent power architecture for Stellantis software-defined vehicles. The announcements do not specify when the lab will be completed, when the components will enter production vehicles, or which models will use them.
How the named components fit together
The collaboration spans distinct jobs in a vehicle’s electrical and electronic architecture. It is not a single chip or accessory: the named technologies address high-power conversion, low-voltage power distribution and vehicle control.

Infineon’s February 4, 2025 investor presentation describes CoolSiC power devices for drivetrain solutions and PROFET sensing and diagnostic functions. Those are descriptions of product capabilities and intended applications; they do not establish that every function is implemented in Stellantis vehicles.
CoolSiC: high-power conversion
Silicon carbide is used in power semiconductor devices. In this announcement, CoolSiC is associated with standardized power modules and improved EV performance and efficiency alongside lower costs. Infineon’s presentation connects its CoolSiC devices with drivetrain solutions. The companies did not publish a vehicle-level efficiency or range result for this partnership.

PROFET: low-voltage switching and distribution
PROFET smart power switches are intended to replace conventional fuses in parts of the vehicle’s low-voltage power network. Switching and diagnostic capabilities can support more controlled power distribution and fault handling; Infineon’s investor material describes sensing and diagnosis functionality. The announcement presents reduced wiring and intelligent network management as intended benefits, not as measured results on a production vehicle.
AURIX: control for the first STLA Brain zonal generation
The companies named AURIX microcontrollers as targeting the first generation of STLA Brain, Stellantis’ zonal architecture. This is the control-system element in the announced set; the announcement does not detail the exact AURIX models, controller configuration or vehicle applications.

What a zonal power architecture means
A zonal architecture organizes vehicle electronics around physical regions, or zones, rather than relying only on many separate components connected across the vehicle. A zone control unit can act as a regional hub, combining communications, power distribution and conversion, load actuation and sensing. That can change how wiring and local electronic functions are organized, but Infineon’s overview is general architecture context—not confirmation that all of those functions are present in Stellantis vehicles. Infineon’s zonal-architecture overview describes semiconductor switches as a way to replace mechanical fuses and enable remote fault management.
Power distribution units are another part of this picture. Infineon describes a primary unit distributing low-voltage battery power to secondary units, zone controllers and high-power electronic control units; secondary units then distribute power to low-voltage loads. Its explanation provides a useful map of the system layers, but does not specify the exact design Stellantis intends to adopt. Infineon’s power-distribution-unit overview sets out that general arrangement.

What the partnership has—and has not—shown
The stated aims are to improve vehicle cost, energy efficiency, driver experience and range. Those are company objectives, not demonstrated outcomes. The November 2024 announcements and Infineon’s February 2025 presentation do not report measured changes in any of those areas, name production models that will use the components, or give a start date for deployment.
The Stellantis announcement also attributed an approximately 29% share of the global automotive microcontroller market to TechInsights in 2024. That is the release’s reported figure, not a current market-share figure or an independently verified result here. Infineon Automotive Division President Peter Schiefer said: “As the world’s leading automotive semiconductor vendor, we bring our product-to-system expertise and dependable electronics to the table.”
