Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteThe Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G and REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G differ most clearly in the camera hardware Xiaomi lists for specific regions: the India Note 14 Pro+ has a dedicated 50 MP telephoto camera with 2.5x optical zoom, while the UK Note 17 Pro Max specification lists a 50 MP OIS main camera and an 8 MP ultra-wide. That does not establish which takes better photos. Prices and specifications vary by market, so a fair price comparison requires matching country, storage, seller, and date.
At a glance: what the available specifications show
| Category | Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G | REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G |
|---|---|---|
| Camera hardware | Xiaomi India lists a 50 MP main camera, a 50 MP telephoto with 2.5x optical zoom, and an 8 MP ultra-wide. Xiaomi India | Xiaomi UK lists a 50 MP OIS main camera, an 8 MP ultra-wide, and a 32 MP front camera. It specifies 4K recording at 30 fps on both front and rear cameras. Xiaomi UK specifications |
| Battery and charging | Xiaomi India lists a 6,200 mAh battery and 90 W HyperCharge for its India-market model. Xiaomi India | Xiaomi Global promotes a large battery and high-speed charging, but the cited material does not provide a directly comparable capacity figure. Xiaomi UK says a power adapter is not included and recommends a compatible 100 W PD or Xiaomi adapter. Xiaomi Global · Xiaomi UK |
| Display | Xiaomi India describes a 6.67-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a refresh rate up to 120 Hz. Xiaomi India | A directly comparable full display specification is not stated in the cited Xiaomi Global or UK material. |
| Durability | Xiaomi India describes IP68 protection for its regional variant. Xiaomi India | Xiaomi Global describes multiple IP ratings and an SGS drop-resistance certification for falls up to 3 metres onto granite. Its underwater camera mode is limited to static freshwater at up to 2 metres for 30 minutes; Xiaomi says the mode does not extend the phone’s water resistance and recommends a professional waterproof case for underwater use. Xiaomi Global |
| Processor | Xiaomi’s India and Indonesia pages identify a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3. Xiaomi India · Xiaomi Indonesia | A dependable processor detail is not established by the cited official specifications. |
These are region-specific specifications, not a guarantee that every country’s version has the same components. Xiaomi Indonesia, for example, lists Note 14 Pro+ configurations of 8 GB + 256 GB and 12 GB + 512 GB, while Xiaomi India publishes its own product details. Check the specification page for the exact market and SKU you plan to buy. Xiaomi Indonesia specifications
Which phone has the better camera?
Choose based on the kind of shots you take
On Xiaomi’s India specification, the Note 14 Pro+ has the more clearly documented optical-zoom option: a dedicated 50 MP telephoto camera with 2.5x optical zoom, alongside a 50 MP main camera and 8 MP ultra-wide. That hardware may appeal if you often photograph distant subjects and want optical zoom rather than relying only on a crop. Do not assume this camera arrangement applies to Note 14 Pro+ versions sold in other regions. Xiaomi India
The UK Note 17 Pro Max specification instead emphasizes a 50 MP OIS main camera, 8 MP ultra-wide, and 32 MP selfie camera, with front and rear video recording listed at 4K 30 fps. The cited specification does not list a dedicated telephoto camera. A higher front-camera megapixel count or optical image stabilization does not, by itself, prove better real-world image quality. What reviews do—and do not—establish
TechRadar’s review of the Note 14 Pro+ 5G, published 5 August 2025, describes the reviewed unit’s specifications and criticizes its software and camera results. Those are that reviewer’s impressions of one model, not a controlled comparison with the Note 17 Pro Max. The available evidence therefore supports a hardware-feature comparison, not a definitive verdict on which phone produces better photos. TechRadar review
Battery, display, speed, and durability
Battery and charging
For the India-market Note 14 Pro+, Xiaomi specifies 6,200 mAh and 90 W HyperCharge. Those figures belong to Xiaomi’s India product listing; do not extend them to every regional configuration. The available Note 17 Pro Max material promotes a large battery and fast charging but does not provide a comparable capacity figure here. Xiaomi UK says the charger is not included and recommends a compatible 100 W PD or Xiaomi adapter, so account for the adapter separately if needed. Xiaomi India · Xiaomi Global · Xiaomi UK

- This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
- Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.
- When you receive the phone, insert a SIM card from a compatible carrier. Then, turn it on, connect to Wi-Fi, and follow the on screen prompts to activate service.
- The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a generic (Mfi certified) charger and charging cable.
- Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.
Advertised playback or endurance claims are manufacturer measurements, not a shared independent test. They should not be used to predict which phone lasts longer for your own mix of mobile data, brightness, camera use, and apps.
Display and performance
Xiaomi India specifies a 6.67-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel with up to 120 Hz for its Note 14 Pro+. The cited Note 17 Pro Max material does not provide a complete comparable display specification, and it does not establish a processor detail suitable for a speed comparison. There is not enough evidence here to name a display or performance winner; verify both phones’ specifications in your market and consult comparable independent benchmarks if speed is decisive.

Water and drop protection
Xiaomi India describes IP68 protection for its Note 14 Pro+ variant. Xiaomi’s Global Note 17 Pro Max page lists multiple IP ratings and an SGS certification for drop resistance up to 3 metres onto granite. These are manufacturer claims and certifications, not a promise that either phone is damage-proof. For the Note 17 Pro Max, Xiaomi specifically limits underwater camera use to static freshwater at a maximum depth of 2 metres for up to 30 minutes and warns that underwater mode does not increase water resistance. It recommends a professional waterproof case for underwater use. Xiaomi India · Xiaomi Global
Price difference: compare the same market and storage
There is no universal price gap between these phones. The cited figures come from different markets, dates, and kinds of listings; they cannot be subtracted to calculate a reliable upgrade cost.

- Consider the Note 14 Pro+ if: you are buying the India-market version and a dedicated 2.5x optical-zoom camera is important, or its verified local price makes it a better fit for your budget.
- Consider the Note 17 Pro Max if: its verified regional configuration, price, and features—such as the UK-listed 32 MP front camera and 4K 30 fps front and rear video—match what you need, and you are comfortable buying a compatible charger separately in the UK.
- Wait to decide if: your choice depends on camera quality, battery life, display quality, or processing speed. The available information does not provide a controlled, same-market head-to-head test for those questions.
Before buying either one, check the exact model name, regional SKU, RAM and storage, warranty coverage, included accessories, and local specifications. The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max is a Redmi Note model; it is not the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max.
