Playtime Engineering’s Blipblox myTracks is a portable music-making device built around pads, preset sounds and simple sequencing. A 2024 New Atlas report described features for making and shaping short musical patterns, sampling nearby sounds, and connecting to headphones, other music hardware or a computer. The report captures the product during its 2024 Kickstarter campaign; it does not establish current availability or specifications.
What the Blipblox myTracks does
According to New Atlas’s April 25, 2024 report, myTracks combines preset musical material with controls for building and changing sequences. Its top panel has 25 backlit pads arranged across five sequence tracks. The pads trigger preset acoustic, electronic and percussive sounds, while the included melodies and drum loops give a beginner material to start with.
The report says the sound sets are designed to keep key and style consistent. A randomize feature can vary the musical material, and an onboard microphone lets users sample sounds from their surroundings. Filter, pitch-bend and delay effects provide ways to change the sound. New Atlas also reported that additional sound packs were available as free downloads at the time.
How it can fit into a music-making setup
The reported connections make myTracks more than a standalone toy. Its built-in speaker supports listening without extra equipment, while a headphone jack offers private monitoring. A five-pin MIDI output can connect it to other music hardware, and USB-C can connect it to a laptop running music-production software. The 2024 report also says the device runs on four AA batteries, a setup suited to use away from a desk.

Those features may appeal to someone who wants to explore sequencing and sound-making without beginning with a computer-based production setup. Someone choosing a device should consider whether preset-driven creation, sampling and portability match their needs, and whether they want to use headphones, external MIDI hardware or computer software. The New Atlas report describes myTracks but does not compare it with other music makers.
What was announced about price and shipping
During its 2024 Kickstarter campaign, New Atlas reported a starting pledge of US$289, described then as US$60 below the expected retail price. The report also gave November 2024 as the estimated start of shipping, an estimate attributed to Playtime Engineering. Neither figure establishes today’s price or confirms that shipping began as planned.

What the child-focused framing does—and does not—establish
Playtime Engineering co-founder Troy Sheets described the design goal as combining “the portability, durability, and safety of toys with high-quality and advanced functionality of a legitimate instrument.” That is the company’s characterization, not evidence of an independent safety assessment or certification. The available report also provides no evidence about learning outcomes or child development.
