Yield’s free “Basic Unit” is described as an offline-capable Android task manager with Todo, Schedule, Memo, and Calendar sections; manual, OCR, and voice capture; and task sharing. The feature details below come from a developer-authored DEV Community post dated September 23, 2026, surfaced as a syndicated rendering—not an independent app review. Current availability, compatibility, pricing, and release status are not established.
What the free Basic Unit includes
The developer’s post presents Basic Unit as the free tier, centered on local task capture and organization. It describes four main tabs, plus an optional landscape layout that can show a memo pane beside the active work area.
- Todo: organize and complete tasks.
- Schedule: a separate place for scheduled work.
- Memo: keep notes, with the option to display a memo alongside another pane in landscape mode.
- Calendar: a calendar view.
The post does not explain calendar synchronization, scheduling automation, or how these sections exchange data, so those capabilities should not be assumed.
How capture and task organization work
Three ways to add information
The post describes manual typing, on-device OCR, and voice input that transcribes speech to text. It says all three—including manual entry—continue to work offline. OCR and transcription are described features, not independently measured for accuracy.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Three levels of task hierarchy
Tasks use the structure Todo > Group > Item. A group or an individual item can be marked complete. When individual items are used, the parent group is automatically marked complete once all of its items are done.
Matching repeated items
Completing an item can also complete identically named items in other Todos. The developer says this checks exact text only: similar wording or variations in spelling do not receive fuzzy matching.

Integrations, Android Auto, and sharing
Links and handoffs
According to the post, phone numbers in Memos or Todos can be tapped to open the standard dialer, recognized app names can launch a linked app, and phrases such as “go to ___” can hand off to Google Maps. A selected Todo can also be searched on the web in the default browser, with SafeSearch forced on.
Android Auto
The post says Basic Unit can hand detected addresses to Google Maps and phone numbers to the standard dialer through Android Auto. It also describes a voice reminder on arrival; the task is not automatically marked complete.

Android sharing and .yldtask files
Yield can send text to other apps through Android’s share sheet and receive shared text into its add-task screen. Yield users can also share a task as a .yldtask JSON file. The post says importing that file reconstructs the task without AI restructuring.
What works offline—and what does not
The developer says local capture and Linkify continue working without a network connection. Network-dependent features, including Gmail sync and AI structuring, are shown as unavailable while offline. For flaky network requests, the post describes up to three retries and an intermediate message if a request takes longer than five seconds. It does not specify whether those retries apply to every network feature.

What is outside Basic Unit, and what remains unclear
The post places AI-powered structuring and Gmail sync in paid tiers and describes Gmail-based AI structuring as part of a planned “Advanced Unit.” Splitting shopping lists by store is mentioned as a future Advanced Unit idea, not as a confirmed released feature. The post gives no price or launch date for that tier, and it does not establish current availability.
The post also does not establish a current Play Store listing, supported Android versions, plan limits, privacy policy, or data-retention terms. Treat those details as unknown rather than inferring them from the offline-capable features. For a practical comparison with another task app, the described dimensions are capture methods, offline behavior, hierarchy and completion rules, the four organizational tabs, integrations, sharing, and network- or tier-dependent functions.
