Unlock Uppercut Surge first if a single dangerous enemy is giving you trouble; choose Spin Edge instead if nearby groups are the bigger problem. Current guides recommend different first picks, so the best choice depends on the fights you find hardest—not on a verified universal ranking.
What Combo Finishers do
Combo Finishers are equipped enders for your primary melee attack sequence. Epic Games Store says CONTROL Resonant has six finishers, which activate at the end of that sequence.
Guides report that the system unlocks at Aberrant Strength 15. Games.gg also reports that each finisher costs one Living Shard. These are game-guide details; Epic’s overview confirms the finisher system and Loadout switching, but does not give the unlock threshold or shard cost.
Which finisher should you unlock first?

They are guide advice, not a controlled comparison: Games.gg says it tested all six finishers, but that does not establish a universal winner. How to unlock and equip one
- Reach Aberrant Strength 15. Games.gg and Beebom report this as the finisher unlock gate.
- Open The Gap and spend one Living Shard to unlock the finisher you want. The one-shard cost is reported by Games.gg.
- Assign the unlocked finisher in Loadout. Buying one does not equip it automatically; Epic says maneuvers can be changed in Loadout.
- Use your primary melee attack sequence and complete it to trigger the equipped ender.

The sources agree there are six finishers, but their coverage does not fully reconcile the roster under consistent names. Epic’s overview names Concussive Beatdown and Split Orbit; Method lists Spin Edge, Uppercut Surge, Concussive Beatdown, Wide Edge, Split Pivot, and Split Orbit; Games.gg also discusses Uppercut Surge and Wide Edge. Treat these as the names used by each source and check the in-game menu for the labels available in your version.
