To use Kaspersky Safe Kids, install it on the child’s device, connect it to your My Kaspersky account, assign the child’s profile and device account, then manage settings and alerts from the parent app or My Kaspersky. Set up the parent’s phone separately from the child’s device; they use different app roles.
Before you start
- Create or have access to a My Kaspersky account. Safe Kids links the child’s profile and devices through that account.
- Have the child’s device available and connected to the internet. Kaspersky says internet access is required to install, use, and update Safe Kids.
- On a shared Windows computer, create a separate Windows account for each child if possible. Kaspersky recommends this so the correct age-based settings can apply to each child.
- Allow time to grant permissions requested during setup. The precise prompts can vary by operating system and app version.
Install and link Safe Kids on a child’s computer
Windows
- Download and install Kaspersky Safe Kids on the child’s computer, or a family computer the child uses. After installation, the Setup Assistant opens; follow its prompts. A restart may be required.
- Sign in to My Kaspersky, or register an account when prompted.
- Add the child’s profile or select the child if you have already created one. Enter the child’s details; the age you provide informs default settings.
- Choose the Windows account the child uses so Safe Kids can associate the computer’s activity and settings with that child.
If multiple children use the same Windows account, Safe Kids cannot reliably apply different settings based on which child is using it. Kaspersky’s Windows guidance recommends a separate Windows account for each child.
Mac
- Install Safe Kids on the Mac the child uses and grant the permissions requested during setup.
- Connect the app to My Kaspersky, then add or select the child’s profile.
- Select the Mac account the child uses to link that account with the child’s profile.
If FileVault is enabled, Kaspersky says you may need to allow Safe Kids to decrypt files in the child’s account so that account remains available after a restart.

Set up your phone as the parent device
- Install and open the Kaspersky Safe Kids mobile app on your phone.
- Review and accept the applicable legal documents shown in the app.
- Connect the app to the same My Kaspersky account used for the child’s profile.
- Choose the parent-device role when asked. Create or enter the app access code to protect access to the parent app.
The parent app is for managing protection and receiving alerts; it does not replace setup on the child’s device. Kaspersky says the parent app can show a device’s location, activity alerts, protection settings, and activity summaries. My Kaspersky also provides detailed reports.

Set up the child’s phone or tablet
- Install and open Safe Kids on the child’s device, then choose the child setup flow rather than the parent-device role.
- Connect to My Kaspersky and add or select the child’s profile.
- Grant the permissions requested by the app, following the on-screen instructions for that device.
On Android, Kaspersky’s setup guidance includes accessibility and overlay or system permissions. Some Android settings can suppress app notifications. Instructions for some Huawei and Xiaomi devices also call for enabling automatic restart. Since menus and permission names vary with operating-system and app versions, follow the current prompts on the device.
Understand features by device and control surface
Features are not necessarily identical across child-device platforms. Kaspersky’s published Android/iOS overview lists app-use monitoring for Android and Safe Browser for iOS child devices. It also describes monitoring device-use duration and location. That overview was last reviewed on September 10, 2019, so confirm current availability before relying on a particular feature.

Where to manage settings and view activity
Open the parent app on your phone to adjust protection settings, receive alerts, and view the activity summaries Kaspersky documents for that app. Sign in to My Kaspersky when you need detailed reports or to manage the linked child profile and devices. If a device or child is missing, check that the app is connected to the correct My Kaspersky account and that the device was assigned to the intended child during setup.

When setup does not work as expected
- The wrong rules seem to apply on Windows: check which Windows account the child uses and whether each child has a separate account assigned in Safe Kids.
- The child account is unavailable after a Mac restart: if FileVault is on, review the permission for Safe Kids to decrypt files in the child account.
- Android alerts do not appear: check the device’s notification settings as well as the permissions requested by Safe Kids.
- A mobile feature is absent: confirm the child’s operating system and consult current Kaspersky support information; platform features and instructions can change.
Version and availability note
Kaspersky’s referenced Windows and Mac setup documents and mobile-feature overview are older documentation; the feature overview dates to 2019. They describe the general linking and setup process, but do not establish current operating-system support, regional availability, subscription terms, or pricing. Check Kaspersky’s current support and product information for your country and device before installation.
