Historical reports show Nemotek Technologie offered wafer-level optics and packaging alongside complete camera production and testing by 2011. They do not establish when testing was added to particular manufacturing lines, what equipment was installed, or how those lines were configured.

What in-house testing meant for Nemotek’s camera manufacturing

Nemotek’s reported offer combined several stages of wafer-level camera production. Customers could obtain optics alone, wafer-level packaging alone, or a packaged camera that included testing. In January 2011, Optics.org quoted company vice president Hatim Limati describing those options as a complete offering: Our customers can obtain just wafer-level packaging, or just the optics, or the complete packaged camera offering, including testing. They can come to us and obtain all they need for wafer-level cameras. Optics.org, January 17, 2011.

By March 2011, Optics.org also described an in-house optical design team and “full testing operations” at Nemotek. Together, these accounts support the view that testing was part of the company’s broader design and manufacturing service, rather than an isolated consumer camera feature. They do not identify the specific production lines or document individual test stations, test equipment, installation dates, throughput, or yield. Optics.org, March 10, 2011.

What the historical reports establish—and what they do not

  • Established: In 2011, Nemotek was reported to provide optics, wafer-level packaging, complete packaged cameras, and testing.
  • Not established: The precise date testing was integrated into each line, the added equipment or stations, and any resulting change in production capacity, quality, cost, or performance.
  • Separate historical qualification account: A 2009 EE Times report described tests for reflow compatibility, high temperature, and solar radiation. It said completed tests complied with the Standard Mobile Imaging Architecture (SMIA). That report predates the 2011 descriptions of full testing operations; it does not document the later line-level additions in the title. EE Times, June 16, 2009.

Those distinctions matter: evidence that a company offered testing and had performed particular qualifications is not evidence of exactly how a later production line was equipped or what results it achieved.

  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Why reflow compatibility mattered

In the 2009 account, reflow compatibility meant optical elements could be mounted directly to a circuit board using the solder-reflow process already used in electronics assembly. The same report said Nemotek tested for solder-reflow compatibility and qualified components for high temperature and solar radiation, with the completed tests reported as compliant with SMIA. These are historical claims from EE Times, not independent confirmation of the test program described in the 2011 coverage.

Product context: the Exiguus H11-A1

In October 2011, Vision Systems Design reported on Nemotek’s Exiguus H11-A1, a VGA wafer-level camera combining wafer-level optics with a CMOS image sensor. The company announcement reproduced in that report stated a resolution of 640 × 480 pixels, a 1/10-inch form factor, reflowability, and automatic and manual controls. It also described glass wafers and one-element or two-surface lenses. The report said the camera was then in volume production. These are historical product specifications and company claims reproduced by the publication, not independent test results or evidence of present availability. Vision Systems Design, October 7, 2011.

Historical scale and timeline

EE Times reported in June 2009 that Nemotek had qualified its first parts at a new manufacturing and packaging facility in Rabat, Morocco, and expected shipments later that year. The article described the facility as 10,000 m², with a Class 10 clean room, and reported an initial capacity of about 17,000 wafer-line cameras annually. Those figures describe the facility and plans as reported in 2009; they are not current capacity data. EE Times, June 16, 2009.

Date What was reported What it supports
June 16, 2009 First parts qualified at the Rabat facility; planned shipments, initial capacity, and reflow, high-temperature, and solar-radiation testing were reported by EE Times. Historical manufacturing and qualification context—not proof of later line installations.
January 17, 2011 Optics.org described a complete packaged-camera offer that included testing, alongside optics-only and packaging-only services. Testing was part of the reported customer offering.
March 10, 2011 Optics.org described an in-house optical design team and “full testing operations.” Testing capability was reported as part of Nemotek’s operations by this date.
October 7, 2011 Vision Systems Design reported the Exiguus H11-A1 specifications and said it was in volume production at that time. A historical example of the camera product supported by the manufacturing offer.

What remains unknown today

The cited reports are historical. They do not establish Nemotek’s current operating status, present products, or current commercial partners. They also provide no comparable figures for test throughput, yield, cost, or current performance. The defensible conclusion is limited: by 2011, reporting described Nemotek as combining wafer-level camera design and manufacturing services with testing, while the exact line-level changes implied by the title remain undocumented in these accounts.
