In The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered, go to Settings → Accessibility and turn on Unlimited Item Durability. CD PROJEKT RED says gear will then never wear down, so you will not need to visit craftsmen for repairs. The publisher documents this option for Remastered; its availability in earlier versions is not established.
Turn on Unlimited Item Durability in Remastered
- Open Settings from the game menu.
- Select Accessibility.
- Enable Unlimited Item Durability.
The setting is listed among the Accessibility options. The publisher does not specify platform-by-platform button inputs, so use the controls shown by your game rather than assuming a particular controller sequence. CD PROJEKT RED announced Remastered on 28 September 2026, with release scheduled for 29 September 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Its announcement also says existing owners can upgrade for free within the same platform ecosystem. Read the publisher’s Remastered announcement.
Does the option exist in the original release?
The documented toggle is specifically for Remastered. The available information does not establish whether or when it appears in earlier releases or patches. If you are playing an older build and cannot find Unlimited Item Durability under Settings → Accessibility, use repair kits or visit a craftsman; those restore item condition but do not prevent future wear.
What item durability affects
The game’s tutorial explains that items wear out through use and become less effective when durability falls below a certain level. The PC manual says the durability display covers equipped-item slots; a red section means the item in that slot is severely damaged. See the reproduced tutorial text and the PC manual.

Repair gear when the toggle is unavailable
Use a repair kit
Repair kits restore durability and are consumed when used. You can find them in containers or buy them from blacksmiths and armorers. The available kit types are amateur, journeyman, and master; the restoration amounts vary, so check the item description in your current version rather than relying on a percentage from another version.
Visit a craftsman
A blacksmith can repair weapons, and an armorer can repair armor. Repairing restores condition but does not switch off the wear mechanic. Repair-kit reference.
