The release branch extends coverage for Azure Firewall, Azure Private Link, GCP multi-project environments and Partner Interconnect, and adds IPv6 path lookup for specified scenarios. Important limits remain, including unsupported IPv6 NAT and policy-based routing (PBR) lookups.
What IP Fabric 7.9 changes for hybrid visibility
IP Fabric is network-assurance software that builds a model of network infrastructure so teams can inspect devices, configurations and traffic paths. In the 7.9 release branch, the notable change is more context for certain cloud-native services and links between environments. The documented additions concern specific constructs and path types; they do not establish complete feature parity across cloud providers.
Network World’s contemporaneous coverage describes the aim as tracing traffic through cloud security boundaries and private connectivity. That is a description of the release’s direction, not an independently measured accuracy or performance result. Network World’s report quotes IP Fabric CEO and co-founder Pavel Bykov: “Digital twin data models provide context that is critical to the success of these initiatives at every stage.”
Cloud services and connections covered
Azure Firewall rules
Version 7.9.3 adds support for Azure Firewall classic rules and policy-based firewall rules, covering network, application and DNAT rule types. There are material exceptions: application rules using FQDN tags are unsupported, DNAT rules using FQDN are unsupported, and Azure Firewall deployed in vWAN is unsupported. These limits are documented in the official IP Fabric 7.9 release notes.

Azure Private Link and cloud path tables
The 7.9 notes document cloud private-link endpoints and services alongside cloud path tables. Network World reports that the release adds discovery for Azure Private Link services and Private Endpoints, enabling those private connections to be represented in cloud path analysis. This gives teams more context for traffic that crosses private cloud connectivity rather than relying solely on a view of on-premises devices.
GCP multi-project discovery and Partner Interconnect
IP Fabric 7.9 supports GCP multi-project discovery: available projects are fetched at the start of discovery. Version 7.9.3 also adds support for GCP Partner Interconnect. Network World describes modeling for Interconnect handoffs, which can help connect the cloud-side view with external network connections. The release notes identify a Shared VPC discovery inconsistency when separate Vendor API configurations are used; deployments using that configuration should account for the documented issue.

- equipped with atom n2600 d2700 processor, compatible with many freebsd based router systems, linux distros, or win.os supported, easy configuration and management
- Please note, this is a barebone only. A system memory, a storage drive and an operating system are needed to complete this system
- 13-19 inches 1u, 50w power, with power cord, make sure to use a big brand memory and ssd/hdd with quality assurance
- Designed with console, 2 x usb, 4 x lan, vga, power switch, size at 290 x 180 x 44mm
- There are 2 inside reserved fans on chassis, which could be removed freely or be turned on in a high temperature environment to ensure the best function of the product
IPv6 path analysis: supported cases and gaps
Version 7.9.3 extends Path Lookup to IPv6 for Unicast and Host-to-Gateway scenarios. The documented lookup scope includes routing and security evaluation, as well as 6in4, GRE and IPsec. That is useful for examining selected IPv6 paths in dual-stack networks, but it is not full IPv6 feature parity with IPv4.
- Supported in the documented scope: IPv6 Unicast and Host-to-Gateway lookups for the routing, security and tunnel cases listed above.
- Not supported: IPv6 lookups involving NAT or PBR.
Teams should therefore treat an IPv6 path result as specific to the lookup scenario and configuration being examined. The release notes do not claim that every IPv6 policy or transformation can be evaluated.

Other operational changes in the 7.9 branch
- Device attributes: bulk CSV import and export are available for device attributes.
- API-only device discovery: an experimental dedicated API discovery worker is available, disabled by default. It is intended for API-only devices and requires support assistance to enable; it should not be assumed to be active in a standard deployment.
- Memory controls: API and discovery service memory limits are configurable.
The release notes also document a Cisco NX-OS condition: VRF routes are not collected unless the BGP route-download limit is enabled and set to a sufficiently high threshold. This is a configuration caveat to consider when checking the completeness of a discovered route view.

The official release notes date IP Fabric 7.9.3 GA to January 14, 2026, and 7.9.4 GA to February 5, 2026. The official 7.9 page lists 7.9.4 as the branch’s general-availability release; IP Fabric documentation also lists a subsequent 8.0 line, so 7.9 should be understood as the release branch covered here, not assumed to be the current product version.

- Portable 100M/1G Network TAP Appliance for remote capture of data traffic
- Integrated with a Raspberry Pi 4 module (8GB RAM and 64GB Micro SD Card)
- Can be used as a standalone 100M/1G network TAP with the external monitor port
- Dual DC power inputs for enhancing overall system availability
The IP Fabric 7.9 release policy states that upgrading to 7.9 requires version 7.5.14 or newer. The official 7.9 release page also warns that deleting a user permanently deletes that user’s saved customizations. Review that impact as part of upgrade planning, particularly if saved user-specific views or settings matter to operations.
What the release does—and does not—establish
For teams operating hybrid networks, the practical value of 7.9 is additional visibility into the particular cloud firewalls, private endpoints, projects and interconnects it supports, plus selected IPv6 path-analysis cases. Whether that closes a visibility gap depends on the services and configurations actually in use. The Azure Firewall FQDN and vWAN exclusions, IPv6 NAT/PBR gap, GCP Shared VPC issue and NX-OS collection condition are relevant checks before treating the modeled topology or path as complete.
Network World provides reporting and attributed comments, but the available release coverage does not include a controlled benchmark of 7.9’s path accuracy, discovery performance or operational outcomes. Bykov’s view that “Abstraction is vital to be able to operate complex infrastructure” is the vendor’s rationale for the product approach, not an independent performance finding.
