Specifications and regional cover-screen descriptions are from Samsung UK’s comparison and Samsung U.S.’s comparison. Samsung notes that models may vary by country. The launch software versions are not necessarily the versions installed today; software updates can change them.
What changed in everyday use?
The Fold7 is thinner and lighter
Folded, the Fold7 measures 8.9 mm thick versus 12.1 mm for the Fold6. That is 3.2 mm thinner, calculated from Samsung’s listed dimensions. It is also 24 g lighter: 215 g versus 239 g. The Fold7 is taller and wider when folded, however, so the trade-off is a slimmer profile rather than a smaller footprint.
The displays are larger, but cover-screen figures need context
The Fold7’s inner screen is 8.0 inches diagonally, compared with 7.6 inches on the Fold6. Both are listed at 1–120 Hz, and the Fold7 has the higher listed resolution. Samsung UK lists both cover screens as 6.5 inches, while Samsung U.S. describes the Fold6 cover screen as 6.3 inches measured as a full rectangle—or 6.2 inches when rounded corners are counted. Those regional presentations are not directly identical; use the source market and measurement convention when comparing diagonals.

The Fold7 has a newer processor
The Fold7 uses Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, while the Fold6 uses Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy. Samsung claims the Fold7 delivers 38% faster processing, 26% smoother graphics and 41% quicker AI than the Fold6. Those are Samsung’s performance claims, not independently measured results.
The main camera has a major resolution increase
The Fold7’s main rear camera is 200 MP, up from 50 MP on the Fold6. Both retain a 12 MP ultra-wide and a 10 MP telephoto camera with 3× optical zoom. The inner camera is listed at 10 MP on the Fold7 versus a 4 MP under-display camera on the Fold6. Higher resolution alone does not establish which phone takes better photos in every lighting or shooting condition.

Battery capacity and charging are unchanged
Both phones have a listed typical battery capacity of 4,400 mAh, 25 W wired charging, 15 W wireless charging and wireless power sharing. Samsung’s U.S. comparison estimates 24 hours of video playback for the Fold7 and 23 hours for the Fold6. Samsung describes this as a lab estimate using a pre-release device connected to Bluetooth earphones over LTE and playing a saved 720p video; it warns that results vary with settings, network, file format, brightness and battery condition. A separate UX Connect Research assessment for the Fold7 was conducted in the U.S. from June 12–20, 2025, on pre-release SM-F966 devices using LTE and 5G Sub6, not 5G mmWave. Neither estimate guarantees a particular person’s daily battery life.
The Fold6 retains S Pen support
Samsung lists S Pen support on the Fold6 main display and no S Pen support for the Fold7. If handwriting or drawing directly on the inner screen is central to how you use a foldable, this is a practical Fold6 advantage rather than a minor spec difference.

Samsung’s announcements report these historical U.S. starting prices: Fold7 launch announcement and Fold6 launch announcement. They are not current prices. Storage tier, country, seller, condition and promotion can change what a buyer pays, and current live prices have not been established here. For a meaningful current comparison, match the same market and storage capacity, and compare equivalent condition, warranty and seller type.

Choose the Fold7 if its upgrades matter to you
- You want a thinner, lighter phone when folded.
- You value the larger 8.0-inch inner display.
- You want the newer processor platform or the 200 MP main-camera hardware.
- You are comfortable paying whatever the current same-market price difference is; the $100 figure above compares launch prices only.
Choose or keep the Fold6 if S Pen support is important
- You use an S Pen on the main display, which Samsung supports on the Fold6 but not the Fold7.
- The Fold6 meets your needs and its actual current price makes it the better value for you.
- You do not need the Fold7’s thinner build, larger inner screen or newer camera and processor hardware.
When shopping today, compare exact storage configurations and check whether each listing is new, refurbished or used, along with its warranty and seller. A historical launch-price gap cannot tell you which model is the better buy at current retail prices.
