Choose a guaranteed player reward when its exact terms give you a player, choice, or rating threshold that helps your squad and the SBC cost is worth paying. Choose a pack when you want a wider range of possible outcomes and accept that the result is uncertain. A pack’s displayed rating or category odds are not the odds of pulling a particular player.
Before spending, compare the live SBC requirements and reward wording with the pack’s own probability screen in EA SPORTS FC Ultimate Team. Offers, costs, player pools, and probabilities change, so there is no universally better choice without the details of the offers available to you.

What does each option actually guarantee?
Guaranteed player rewards
“Guaranteed” means only what the reward description says. It may specify a particular player, a choice among players, a minimum rating, or eligibility restrictions. Read the full wording: a guaranteed rating threshold is not the same as a guaranteed player you want.
SBC packs
A pack’s guaranteed floor is the minimum quality or rating stated in its description and probability screen. That floor does not guarantee a specific player. EA describes its displayed probabilities as minimum chances of receiving one or more items in the listed category and rating range. For example, 100% for a category means at least one matching item is guaranteed, not that a particular player is.

How to decide which reward is better for your squad
- Check the exact reward. Read whether the SBC gives a named player, a player pick, or only a rating/category floor. Note any eligibility limits.
- Decide whether it fills a real need. A guaranteed player is most useful if the player improves a position or chemistry plan. If you would use the player only as an SBC ingredient, value the reward accordingly. A pack may produce more possible outcomes, but some may not help your squad.
- Count the full cost. For an SBC, account for the coins and the value of tradable or untradable items submitted. For a pack, check its current coin or FC Points price. The live costs and requirements vary; no specific offer price can be assumed here.
- Inspect current pack odds. Open the pack’s probability screen in-game and check the timestamp. Do not substitute an older screenshot or an example from EA’s guidance for the current offer.
- Consider whether to wait. Live content changes, and an offer or its odds may expire or be updated. If neither current reward is compelling, keeping resources for a later offer is an option.
What pack odds do—and do not—tell you
Category odds are not named-player odds
A probability for a broad category or rating threshold does not tell you the chance of receiving one particular player in it. EA says the chance of an individual item can be significantly lower than the displayed category probability and is often below 1%; that is a general description, not a current rate for a particular pack or player.

Each opening is independent
Pack probabilities apply to each opening, not to a sequence of openings. EA states: “Any probability percentages that you see are on a pack-by-pack basis and are not cumulative.” Opening several packs does not improve the odds on the next one.
Odds can change with live content
EA says probabilities are simulated for each store pack type and rerun after content updates. Use the figures and timestamp shown on the exact in-game pack or player-pick screen when deciding. EA’s published numerical illustration is explicitly not a promise of final or current probabilities.

Is a guaranteed player worth the SBC cost?
It can be, if the reward’s specific outcome is useful to you and the items or coins you submit are worth less to you than that benefit. Compare the reward with the opportunity cost: the submitted items could be kept for your squad or used in another SBC, while coins could be saved for a later offer. A guaranteed rating alone may not justify the cost if the player does not fit your plans.
Do not treat either choice as better expected value unless you can compare the actual reward pool, current probabilities, SBC requirements, and equivalent resource costs. Those details depend on the live offer and are not established by a generic pack-versus-player comparison.

Quick decision rule
- Prefer the guaranteed reward when its stated player, choice, or threshold directly serves your squad and the cost is acceptable.
- Prefer the pack only when its guaranteed floor is useful enough on its own and you knowingly accept the uncertain upside.
- Wait or save resources when neither offer’s terms or cost make sense for your squad.
