Use the tool suited to the job and the device’s construction. iFixit describes its ESD-safe spudger as a tool for prying around connectors and circuit boards—not as a flat-head screwdriver. Opening picks can help separate tight edges. The metal Jimmy can provide more force for a stubborn gap, but its harder edge has a greater risk of cosmetic damage than softer plastic tools.

Is the toolkit enough for a Steam Deck repair?

Before opening a device, check the guide for your exact model and repair. Confirm that the guide’s required tools are included, that the needed bit type and size match, and that the steps do not call for additional equipment. A toolkit is a set of implements; it is not a substitute for model-specific instructions or a guarantee of a safe or successful repair.

It is a reasonable fit if your planned repairs need the documented bit families and a selection of opening tools, and the relevant repair guides list compatible tools. It is a weaker fit if you need a specific bit size or specialty tool that the kit’s current contents do not confirm, or if your repair requires equipment beyond the kit. Compare the exact tool list in the guide with the kit’s current regional product listing before buying.

Pricing and availability depend on the market and date. A French iFixit promotional page displayed the Essential Electronics Toolkit at $29.95 and the Pro Tech Toolkit at $79.95, but those were promotional-page prices, not verified current regular prices or a dependable comparison for another market. Current Amazon availability and price have not been established here.
iFixit says its tools are backed by a “Lifetime Warranty” on its About page. Check the current warranty terms for your region, purchase channel, and circumstances rather than assuming identical coverage everywhere.
