Google’s Chromebook instructions cover ChromeOS devices generally; Samsung models and keyboard layouts can vary. On a typical Chromebook keyboard, Show windows is identified by an icon resembling a rectangle with lines beside it. If you cannot find that key, use the on-screen method below. Open Screen Capture without a keyboard shortcut
- Select the time or system area at the bottom right of the screen.
- Choose Screen capture.
- In the toolbar, select full-screen, partial-screen, or window capture, then follow the on-screen prompts.
Google also lists a Screen Capture entry in Settings for Chromebooks without a dedicated screenshot key. The toolbar is the simplest option when the key is missing or difficult to identify. Google Chromebook Help: Take a screenshot or record your screen.

With a Windows keyboard connected, the Windows key functions as the Search/Launcher key on a Chromebook. For a different layout or remapped keys, open Settings → Device → Keyboard and inputs → View keyboard shortcuts to check the shortcuts available on your device. Google notes that its standard shortcut list applies to US Chromebook customers using a standard English QWERTY keyboard. Find a screenshot and change where it saves
After capture, ChromeOS copies the screenshot to the clipboard and saves it in Downloads by default. To choose another destination, open Screen Capture, select its settings, and choose a folder. You can then review, delete, or share the saved image. Google Chromebook Help: Take a screenshot or record your screen.
