Choose how to copy the layout

Supercell’s 2018 Quality of Life Changes preview described copying a Clanmate’s layout from the village visit flow. Supercell’s 2019 layout-link announcement gives an example of tapping a shared link to copy the layout into the Layout Editor. That example does not guarantee that every older or third-party link is still live or compatible.

Copy a Clanmate’s base
- Open your Clanmate’s village using the in-game visit flow.
- Look for the copy-layout option and select it if it is available for that village and your account.
- Open the Layout Editor and inspect the copied layout before saving or using it.
Supercell’s 6 June 2018 announcement said the feature unlocked at Town Hall 4 for Home Village and Builder Hall 4 for Builder Base. It also said players could copy a base one level higher or lower than their own. These are announcement-era requirements; current eligibility and button labels are not confirmed here.
Copy a base from a shared link
- Open the shared Supercell layout link on a device with Clash of Clans available.
- Follow the prompt to open the game, if shown.
- Check the Layout Editor for the copied layout and review it before using it.
The documented link flow places the layout in the Layout Editor. Whether a particular link still works depends on that link and the game’s current compatibility; the cited example does not establish a universal link lifespan or automatic activation in a battle mode.

Review and test the copied base
Check the layout before using it
Use the Layout Editor to confirm the copied design suits your current village and intended mode. For War Bases, Supercell Support says layouts can be edited in the Layout Editor and recommends checking that the layout reflects your latest defensive buildings.
Try a defense layout in a Friendly Challenge
A Friendly Challenge lets Clan members try strategies and defense layouts without losing trophies or resources, according to Supercell Support. The defender can change the layout when setting up the challenge, making it a practical way to see how a defense performs before relying on it elsewhere.
