The SwitchBot Candle Warmer Lamp is a smart, overhead halogen warmer that melts candle wax without an open flame. Its app and voice controls, dimming, timers, and advertised Matter support make it more flexible than a basic warmer, but its strict candle-size limits and hot operating surface matter just as much. It is worth considering if your candle fits and you want scheduling; it is not a fit for oversized jars or anyone expecting a cool-running appliance.
How the SwitchBot Candle Warmer Lamp works
A 50 W halogen bulb warms wax from above, releasing fragrance without lighting a wick. SwitchBot says the lamp works with different candle and wax types, but that does not establish identical results for every candle or a particular fragrance duration. The absence of an open flame also does not mean the lamp stays cool: its surface can become hot during extended use.
See the SwitchBot product page for the manufacturer’s description and current specifications.
Check candle fit before buying
SwitchBot’s current specifications give a maximum candle diameter of 9.5 cm and a 14 cm table-to-shade distance. Measure the widest part of the jar and its height from the table; a candle that exceeds either limit may not fit correctly beneath the shade. The lamp itself weighs 520 g.

Tom’s Guide’s hands-on review, published January 13, 2026, also flagged the diameter restriction and raised wax-spill containment as a design consideration. That is a useful practical caveat if you use jars prone to overflow, though the review is not a controlled comparison of spill performance.

Controls, timers, and smart-home features
The lamp offers app control with stepless dimming, plus ten brightness levels on its controller. Its timer options are 2, 4, or 8 hours. SwitchBot advertises app and voice operation and Matter-over-Wi-Fi integration; check the product listing for current platform and setup details rather than assuming every smart-home configuration behaves the same.
In Tom’s Guide’s household use, the reviewer reported Matter connectivity and an app routine that switched the warmer off when everyone left. This illustrates a practical use for automation, but one review does not establish reliable operation across all homes, networks, or platforms.

Safety, pets, and fragrance
Because the surface can heat during extended operation, place the lamp on a stable surface where people and pets cannot touch the hot area. SwitchBot also recommends gentler scents for sensitive animals and ventilation if fragrance is diffused for a prolonged period in an enclosed room. Follow the manufacturer’s pet-household guidance.

Tom’s Guide is the cited independent hands-on review; its writer said the household had used the lamp since early December before the January 13, 2026 review. The account covers routine-based shutoff, local cord controls, Matter connectivity, appearance, candle fit, and spill concerns. It is not a controlled test. The available evidence does not establish comparative scent output, energy use, durability, or safety performance, so those should not be treated as proven advantages or disadvantages.
