Its adjustable 12-button side panel is the main attraction; its bulk and weight are the trade-offs. It is a strong fit when command access matters more than quick, effortless mouse movement, but it may not suit smaller hands or players sensitive to thumb strain.
What makes the SCIMITAR ELITE WIRELESS different?
The defining feature is Corsair’s adjustable Key Slider: a side panel with 12 thumb buttons that can move forward or backward to better match your reach. Corsair lists 16 programmable buttons in total. Tom’s Hardware counts those as the left and right clicks, wheel click, DPI button, and 12 side buttons—so the keypad provides distinct physical controls rather than relying only on a modifier layer.
Corsair’s product page specifies a 26,000 DPI Marksman optical sensor, single-DPI-step adjustment, 1,000 Hz polling, and two-zone RGB lighting. Through iCUE, the buttons can be remapped and assigned macros. The mouse can store up to three profiles onboard, and the USB receiver has a storage compartment. Corsair’s SCIMITAR ELITE WIRELESS specifications describe Slipstream wireless and Bluetooth connectivity; reviewers also describe wired USB-C use. Tom’s Hardware notes that the scroll wheel does not tilt.
Is the Corsair SCIMITAR ELITE WIRELESS good for MMO?
Yes, if your priority is reaching many separate abilities or commands with your thumb. RTINGS calls it an excellent MMO/MOBA choice and reports very low click and sensor latency along with high sensor accuracy. The adjustable panel is useful because you can reposition it for reach rather than accepting one fixed keypad position.
#1 Best Overall
- Phenomenally Precise 33k DPI MARKSMAN S: Hit headshots, scan the entire map, ping teammates all with amazing accuracy thanks to the MARKSMAN S 33k DPI optical sensor. With improved DPI detection, IPS tracking, and lower power consumption over the previous version, it’s definitely a worthy upgrade
- 16 Programmable Buttons: All the powers in the world, right at your fingertips. Have a button ready for every power, consumable, action, and attack with 16 programmable buttons
- Elgato Stream Deck Integration: Native Elgato Stream Deck integration allows you to directly map Stream Deck functions to the SCIMITAR ELITE WIRELESS SE from the Stream Deck App, so your most important functions are just a button away
- Elgato Virtual Stream Deck Integration: This mouse can also utilize Elgato’s Virtual Stream Deck integration to give your 16 buttons more functionality than ever. Map buttons to their own Virtual Stream Deck to build out profiles for productivity, gaming, streaming, and more
- Fast, Low-Latency Wireless Freedom: Ditch the cords and the lag. SLIPSTREAM WIRELESS offers a low-latency connection on PC or Mac with 1,000Hz polling. Alternatively connect via Bluetooth or USB to charge while you play
Its strengths are less compelling for games that reward rapid, repeated mouse movement. RTINGS says the weight makes it harder to move quickly and accurately than dedicated FPS mice. PCWorld describes the original model as bulky and weighs it at 114 g. That is not a light-mouse design, even though weight alone does not determine whether a particular player will find it comfortable.
Comfort and fit: the main caveat
The mouse’s large shape will not suit everyone. Tom’s Hardware cautions that it may be a poor fit for smaller hands. Its reviewer also observed that the inward-curving placement of the side panel could strain the thumb during long sessions with frequent button presses. These are reviewer observations, not a guarantee that every hand will experience the same discomfort.

If possible, assess the grip and thumb reach before committing. The panel’s fore-and-aft adjustment can help with button access, but it cannot make the mouse smaller or lighter. Consider how often you will use the side controls: a full keypad is most valuable when your games and bindings make regular use of it.
Battery life and connection options
Corsair’s listed battery figures vary by connection mode and lighting condition, and should be treated as manufacturer ratings rather than independent battery-test results. Tom’s Hardware reports Corsair’s rating as up to 120 hours over 2.4 GHz Slipstream with lighting off, or up to 150 hours over Bluetooth. Corsair’s current product page separately states up to 150 hours over Bluetooth with RGB off. PCWorld also reports 120 hours in Slipstream and 150 hours in Bluetooth, without illumination.

- 17 Fully Programmable Buttons: Built with Ideal for performing frequent actions and executing complex macros in MMOs and MOBAs.
- Patented Key Slider Control System: Reposition the 12 side buttons to comfortably fit your grip.

- Comfortable Contoured Shape: Sculpted to fit the contours of your palm, regardless of hand size or grip style, with a right-side finger rest for added support.
Those figures are not a single universal runtime: the quoted conditions matter, and the cited material does not establish a comparable runtime with lighting enabled. Choose Slipstream, Bluetooth, or wired USB-C use according to your setup and priorities; do not assume the maximum quoted battery life applies to every mode.
How it compares with the Razer Naga V2 Pro and SteelSeries Aerox 9 Wireless
| Mouse | Panel design | Weight and performance notes | Best reason to consider it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Corsair SCIMITAR ELITE WIRELESS | 12-button panel slides forward and backward. | PCWorld reports 114 g for the original model. RTINGS reports very low click and sensor latency and high sensor accuracy. | Adjustable thumb reach and many distinct commands. |
| Razer Naga V2 Pro | Interchangeable panels, including a 12-button option. | RTINGS says it performs similarly overall to the Corsair as an MMO mouse. | Changing panel layouts rather than repositioning one fixed keypad. |
| SteelSeries Aerox 9 Wireless | Static side panel. | RTINGS describes it as much lighter than the Corsair and reports significantly higher click and sensor latency in its comparison. | Lower weight, if that matters more than adjustable panel placement. |
These comparisons reflect RTINGS’ evaluations, not a universal ranking for every game or player. If you need many thumb commands, compare the panel layout and how it fits your reach. If fast FPS movement is the priority, give weight more importance and consider whether an MMO keypad is worth the added bulk.

Do not confuse it with the SCIMITAR ELITE WIRELESS SE
This review concerns the original SCIMITAR ELITE WIRELESS. Corsair lists its sensor at 26,000 DPI, and PCWorld reports its weight as 114 g. The separate SCIMITAR ELITE WIRELESS SE is a different revision: PC Gamer lists that model at 161 g with a 33K optical sensor and discusses Stream Deck-oriented functionality. Those SE specifications should not be attributed to the original mouse.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Verdict
The SCIMITAR ELITE WIRELESS is a purpose-built choice for players who will use its adjustable 12-button thumb panel to manage a dense set of MMO or MOBA commands. Its strong reported input performance supports that role, but its bulky 114 g build makes it a less natural choice for players who prioritize lightweight movement, and its shape may not fit smaller hands. Choose it for accessible command density—not as an all-purpose lightweight gaming mouse.
