The exact options depend on your Galaxy model, software version, and carrier.
Answer a call with the on-screen control
When the incoming-call screen appears, use its Answer control. The gesture can vary: on Galaxy Z Flip phones, Samsung says to swipe the green Answer button to the right on either the cover screen or the main screen.
Set up tap-to-answer
Samsung Australia documents this path for supported Galaxy phones. Menu names and availability can differ on devices sold in other regions.
- Open the Phone app.
- Tap More options (the three-dot menu), then Settings.
- Tap Answering and ending calls, then Gestures to answer calls.
- Select Tap.
If those labels are missing, search Settings for “answer calls” or check the support page for your local Samsung region and model.

Use an accessibility control instead of swiping
Samsung’s US accessibility guide describes call-answering options under Settings > Accessibility > Interaction and dexterity. One documented example lets the phone read the caller’s name aloud and uses Volume Up to answer. Options may differ by model, carrier, and software version; Samsung notes that some call controls may not be available on tablets.
Older Assistant menu option
For One UI 6.0 and below, Samsung Australia documents a separate route: Settings > Accessibility > Interaction and dexterity > Assistant menu. Turn on Assistant menu and enable Replace Swipe with Single Tap. Samsung notes this can also make alarms and alerts respond to a tap, so consider that effect before enabling it. This older-version instruction is not a universal path for current Galaxy phones.

Answer calls with Voice Access
Samsung documents Voice Access as a way to control on-screen actions by speaking. Its setup is under Settings > Accessibility > Interaction and dexterity and includes a phone-call settings tutorial. Available commands can vary, so do not assume one spoken phrase will answer calls on every Galaxy model.
Galaxy Z Flip: cover-screen behavior
Samsung says you can answer on a Galaxy Z Flip’s FlexWindow cover screen or main screen by swiping the Answer control right. Its US support page says a call cannot be answered on the cover screen while Do not disturb is enabled. The page also describes an optional setting in Flip Options that can answer automatically when you open the phone during an incoming call.

Samsung cautions that screens and settings can vary by carrier, software version, and model. If a listed option is not present, use Settings search or consult Samsung support for your country and device.
