Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered is a worthwhile return for players who want the older series’ direct, battlefield-focused Musou style with modern conveniences. It combines Dynasty Warriors 3 and Xtreme Legends, updates graphics and controls, and adds optional combat and weapon-building systems. Its main limitation is that its character movesets remain less varied than those in newer entries.
What is included in the Complete Edition?
The remaster bundles the original Dynasty Warriors 3 with the content from Dynasty Warriors 3: Xtreme Legends. KOEI TECMO says it also refines the graphics and controls and adds new scenarios. More than 40 officers return, including Ziluan, the protagonist of Dynasty Warriors: Origins. KOEI TECMO Europe’s launch announcement describes the package and returning cast.
The result is not a wholesale redesign. Its appeal lies in revisiting the earlier game’s recognizable menus, cast, and straightforward battles while having the option to use newer defensive and progression systems.
How does the combat feel?
The central appeal is the classic Musou loop: fight through large groups of enemies, engage officers, and move across a battlefield where control of key encounters matters. The remaster adds systems that give players more ways to respond to pressure and shape their weapons.

New scenarios can be unlocked by meeting specified conditions. These additions offer more tactical options, but the basic structure remains intentionally direct rather than built around the breadth of later games.
Can you keep the original-style settings?
Yes. The publisher says players can switch new features on or off individually. “Classic Settings” applies a configuration intended to resemble the original titles, while “Normal Settings” uses the remaster’s recommended configuration. That makes the modernization adjustable: players can try the new systems without being required to use all of them. What did the launch-day review say?
In a review updated on 1 October 2026, Meristation’s Alberto Zaragoza Lerma praised the nostalgic presentation, quality-of-life changes, combat refinements, and soundtrack. His main caution was that players coming from Dynasty Warriors: Origins may find the older character movesets limited. That is one critic’s assessment, not a consensus or an aggregate verdict. That trade-off is the key to judging the game: if you value a lighter, more direct version of the formula, the remaster’s simplicity is part of its appeal. If you expect the broader moveset variety of a newer entry, its age is more apparent.

Does it support split-screen or online co-op?
Local two-player split-screen is available at launch, for co-op or versus play in Musou, Free, and VS modes. The launch announcement described online two-player co-op as a post-launch update; the available announcement does not establish whether that update has since shipped. Check the current platform listing or patch notes if online play is essential to your purchase. KOEI TECMO Europe’s announcement distinguishes the launch features from the planned update.
Is there a demo?

The game launched on 1 October 2026 for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC via Steam. KOEI TECMO America’s product page lists it as available now. Check the publisher’s platform page.
Nintendo’s US eShop lists digital Standard and Deluxe editions, as well as a separate Deluxe upgrade. The US Deluxe listing includes the game, 42 retro costumes, a Wind Scroll and Tiger Amulet, Six Secret Teachings, 42 weapons usable as fusion materials, and an in-game Officer Concept Art Collection. Some included items can also be obtained through gameplay; the art collection cannot be downloaded separately, and producer comments are Japanese only.
